Outstanding getawayThis place is beautiful, the staff and innkeepers are truly good people and the room we stayed in was the nicest, cleanest and accommodating place of ever stayed in the US. Kristen and Scott go out of their way to make sure you're enjoying your time there! Definitely go...guaranteed good time.

Relaxing & Sweet GetawayWe wanted to get away and rest after nearly a year of being parents to a very busy 3 year old during a pandemic (and the complete lack of work-life balance that goes with living in it right now). We are locals and booked our trip completely last minute. I was surprised to find the Hertzog Homestead (never heard of it) and see the Hertzog room available! This made me suspicious, but it was completely unwarranted (I'm sure someone canceled last minute - luck for us!). Everything was contactless because of COVID and there was a cleaning basket in the room if we wanted to clean more. The room was clean, more modern feeling than most of the pictures show, and had lots of tasteful Lancaster County charm. (I say tasteful because it wasn't over-the-top country, but still highlighted the county's heritage respectfully. There was an old 1870's atlas of the county and framed Sunday school cards from the local Mennonite church.) There is a jacuzzi attached to the Hertzog room and the position of this room is at the back of the property and more private compared to the other single rooms. It had just snowed the day before and the view was impressive and peaceful. There is a fake electric fireplace, so it felt like a cozy winter retreat. The breakfast was SO MUCH FOOD, but the baked goods you can always take with you (which we did - also so delicious!). There were directions to warm up the food and it tasted perfectly fresh and delicious. They also have their own soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion that you can sample and buy if you like it (which we also did - as locals, we can confidently say the "Amish Simplicity" smells much more pleasant than an actual working Amish farm). Everything about our stay was wonderful and we left well-rested and refreshed. I'm almost tempted not to tell my friends about this place and keep it our little secret, but we can't single-handedly keep them in business with our stays, so I encourage you to book with confidence!

Quiet location, great service, delicious foodMy husband and I needed a weekend getaway, and this was the perfect place! It was really nice being able to have breakfast whenever we wanted it in the privacy of our room. They catered to my gluten allergy with some delicious baked treats!! Only complaint was the bed was way too soft for us which actually made our bodies hurt in the morning, and not sleep as well as we would have liked. We definitely would like to go back and check out the suite with the hot tub!!

Best bed and breakfast experienceWe really enjoyed our stay. This was the third time we have been there and each time tried a different room. None were a disappointment. The breakfast was delicious and so nice to have at our own pace. And everything was so clean. In a time when going away can seem so hard to do staying here with the no contact check in and out was perfect. We cant wait to go again.

Super safe and completely relaxingThe pandemic has been hard on all of us and my sister-in-law and I were looking for a getaway that is still safe. Our stay here was completely relaxing and 100% safe. The food was amazing and there was so much attention to detail by the staff.
