  Friendly with Character

  The owner and staff were all very friendly and helpful. Very nicely decorated inside, with a lot of character and two open fires. There was a comfortable, cosy and attractive area for sitting as well as tables next to the bar for serving the very tasty food from the kitchen. We stayed over night and had a 3 course meal in the evening and breakfast the next morning, both we were very happy with. The area where there could be some improvement was the bedroom, it was clean and comfortable, but looked rather tired, however it did not spoil our stay and we would stay again.

  Rude and unwelcome

  Just popped in for a drink and we were told to sit anywhere but reserved signs on all but one table so I sat down at this table whilst my husband went to the bar. Landlord instantly questioned his bar staff as to why the table hadnt been reserved very loudly. He spoke to his staff rudely in front of customers and then when I said to my husband that wed better go because they needed the table, clearly upset with how he was handling things, he spoke rudely again, very defensive, said how he had only been open for 2 weeks and was busy that evening as if it was my problem as a paying customer?! I understand his business has been affected by Covid-19 but so has everyones and its not my fault. Here we are giving him some business! All he needed to do was apologise and say that of course I could sit there or ask us politely if wed mind moving. Instead, when I asked if he would like us to sit somewhere else he said well yes when the diners start coming in, I couldnt believe it!! He then spoke to my husband as if I was being dramatic and then turned around and said I dont have time for this. Absolutely disgusting. Despite living close by, I will not go in again and I certainly wont recommend to local friends.

  such a great find,

  had a lovely lunch sitting in pleasant garden with plenty of space, nice big umbrella. Very friendly helpful staff. Really impressed with simplicity of menu pricing, very comprehensive choice, and generous portions, particularly the ice creams! Wonderful pub in quiet attractive village.

  Idyllic country village hotel with rooms, superb food and lovely staff

  Stayed in September 2020, lovely spacious rooms, clean, comfortable and relaxing. Wonderful breakfasts made to order and a fine range of evening meals. Excellent Covid arrangements kept everyone safely distanced but the service and quality of the food was superb. Highly recommended as the professionalism was more like a 5 stat hotel than a country Inn but none of the charm of an Inn was lost, just lovely place to stay or eat.

  Perfect stop

  Really enjoyed our one night stay hear. Easy enough to find and started with a phone call to check if we wanted to book to eat in the evening. We wanted to decide later so now even though fully booked managed to fit us on in the other area for pizzas and chips. Perfect. Evening staff were all friendly and helpful. Overnight was great and lovely rooms and beds. Breakfast was great loved the style of food ind the middle of the table to share. Great visit will come again.
