  Great food, great atmosphere.

  I met my family for a get together at this pub, as it was central for us to meet at. Id not been for a while, and understood that it has been recently re-opened, so we decided to check it out. We were pleasantly surprised by what a warm atmosphere there was, it felt very friendly and welcoming with its log fire, and the food was delicious. We all decided to have to roast beef which was delicious, with generous portions, and an excellent selection of vegetables. The chef himself came out to check that the food was ok, and was very friendly. Some of us also decided to have dessert, which were delicious and obviously home made. The sticky toffee pudding was very generous, and one of the nicest Ive ever had. The ginger and lime cheesecake was unusual, but very tasty. We will definitely be back, and would recommend this pub to anyone.

  Great time

  We visited the hare and hounds in early March well worth a visit the food is really good nice portion size good choice of veg and roast potatoes to die for. Lovely seats by the fire and Jamie the manager is a great guy lovely and friendly if you get a chance I recommend you visit its well worth it .

  Hidden gem

  We really enjoyed our dinner with this pub. Getting a table anywhere at this time of year was a nightmare and we were really pleased to get this table. The menu is great, and kids menu was good too. The pizzas were tasty, lots of alternative flavours. I had the goats cheese salad and it was yummy. Nice to have a salad alternative as soon many restaurants offer such hearty dishes. Staff were friendly. Well priced. Would recommend highly.

  Lovely pub, stunning rooms in a perfect location

  Myself and my girlfriend booked a last minute trip through wowcher and the Hare and Hounds couldn't be more accommodating. Upon booking they offered the chance to eat in the pub downstairs. Arriving on Sunday we opted for the roast dinner with beef. It was simply delicious. Perfectly cooked and the sticky toffee is lovely as well. The location is stunning as a get away from busy urban life being completely in the sticks. Peaceful and surrounded by farmland and walks as well as near enough to places like Windermere, Bowness on Windermere and Ambleside for local amenities. With excellent access to roads, the Hare and Hounds is the perfect place for a get away to the lakes.

  Last minute long weekend

  Booked a 2 night stay at the hare and hounds last minute through Wowcher, didnt know what to expect really but it did not disappoint at all and thus far has probably been one of our favourite stays in the Lake District! The staff were very polite and helpful and we were greeted with a warm welcome. The room and bathroom were very clean and very nicely decorated. We were given a free bottle of Prosecco in our room as part of the deal and the bar downstairs was very nice as we were able to enjoy some drinks in front of the log fire. Breakfast was hearty and set us up nicely for a day out in the lakes. The location was very good and we were able to get into Windermere within a short drive. Overall very relaxing stay and we shall be returning.
