    Good overall experience

My husband and I stayed here in September and had a good overall experience. The rooms are quaint and basic with very comfortable beds. Great experience with breakfast the first morning, however hospitality a bit lacking the second morning after showing up near the end of service but also as a result of waiting to be served. Beautiful surrounding area and really cosy charming pub.

    Very good overall

Stayed here one night Restaurant location for evening meal and breakfast is absolutely stunning. Food quality is fantastic. Eggs Benedict were amazing. Covid restrictions in place with high cleaning levels and signage. Holly was our waitress she was friendly and professional. Great parking facilities. Bed was very comfortable and room very clean. Our room faced the main road so was a tad noisy through the night is only reason for not hitting the 5* mark for us.

    - NOT A HOTEL TO RETURN TO........ -

Goodness, having seen some of the photographs of the 'Hare and Hounds Hotel' Rooms on this Site, one wonders whether I am commenting about the same Hotel. To be fair, the Public Areas of the Pub/Hotel - The Barn Restaurant, Reception etc. were fine. We had Dinner in the 'The Barn' on our first evening - and two breakfasts on the subsequent two days that we spent at the Hotel. Very pleasant surroundings, good service throughout, and a thoroughly enjoyable Dinner and two very good breakfasts. Our Hotel Room? NOT good! Frankly, we can only describe it as 'uninviting, dismal and depressing'. Room 18 had certainly seen 'far better days', as my photographs will reveal (Have tried to upload them, but have failed to do so......though Management, if you would like to provide a Mobile, or 'WhatsApp' Number I can certainly send them to you!) . The Bathroom, in particular was unimaginably unpleasant.....obviously maintenance had been carried out........ but how could any Management allow 'Botched Up' jobs like this? Window sills grimy, the bathroom window dirty, area behind the washbasin filthy - and goodness knows what was 'breeding' there......... Dirty/Stained carpet in the lounge.....the whole room just totally 'NOT NICE'. Yes, of course, at the moment, we ALL live in totally unprecedented times, and we accept that. The Staff in the 'Hospitality Industry' are of course at huge risk and they must be protected at all costs, .... but to find that our room had NOT been cleaned or 'serviced' at the end of our first day, and would not be so until we had vacated the room, dependent upon how long our stay was, really wasn't good enough. AND the fact that we could not locate a Member of Staff to replenish our Loo Roll (of which there was insufficient left in the first place!) necessitating a drive to a local Supermarket really, is this the Service of a 'Quality Hotel'? Not really.... Thankfully we had taken sufficient shower gel and soap - please do so if you're staying here.....if you 'chance ' staying here

    Fantastic restaurant

Me and my friend came here yesterday for lunch to celebrate her birthday. We were welcomed by the waitress on arrival and taken to our table promptly. We both had the lunch special (3 courses for £12.95), and the food was fantastic. The Welsh rarebit starter and baked Alaskan dessert were particular highlights. Service was brilliant throughout and we will definitely be coming back here in the future.

    Sunday lunch Far too expensive

Been here a few times for a drink before lockdown, great selection of drinks, friendly staff. Today went for family Sunday lunch, £10.50 for 3 half scallops, £18.95 for roast beef wroth uncooked roast potatoes, reheated roasted veg. Really disappointing. Don't mind paying for quality, didn't deliver sadly.
