Better than premier inn/travel lodge alternative for business tripStayed here the night before a training event at a local airfield. Had a steak cooked really well, chips a bit soggy with fat. Hotel room clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great All in all great alternative to Premier inn/Travel lodge etc

Great Glitter mealOur Book Club had their Christmas social last evening. We all enjoyed the Glitter menu. Everyone was in agreement that the meal was excellent. the restaurant was busy with several large parties but our food orders were all correct( we had pre booked)the food was piping hot and the quantities were very generous. All in all a very good evening. Thank you to all concerned.

Rating partly marked down due to high prices of roomsFirstly one very big plus point - the hotel, and specifically the adjacent car park are clearly signposted several times in the small town. Many town/city centre hotels seem to go out of their way to avoid any indications how to find the car park ! The car park is pay and display but is right behind the hotel and is free overnight until 07.00 ( you can still pay when your arrive so no need to get out of bed to feed the meter) Nice approach through small courtyard decorated for Xmas. Quick check in , (although no e mail confirmation in advance which is very unusual ) . The building is old so as expected corridors and doorways a bit narrow and low . I had a single room ( due to cost of a double ) and it was as expected sizewise . At least there was a small double bed , rather than a single and the bathroom was not too poky. However it was very cold as despite it being cold outside the heating was not even on low. The radiator had an electronic control that at first I could not get to work , so had to plug in the cheap convector heater supplied .Later the radiator came on . Then same issue in the bathroom and in the morning I had to put the convector in the bathroom ( before I had a shower , not during ) Shower head was broken and the water came out more like from a tap . In the public area, there is a nice bar . Modernised but still with a lot of original character - good real ale and good pub food. Nice atmosphere with a mixture of hotel guests; people having a drink before going to the restaurant and some local drinkers. The restaurant is more modern but still with a nice ambience. Breakfast was served to order and served quite quickly . Fresh fruit and hot coffee available as serve yourself. So overall the public areas are pleasant, but the room was just OK and at nearly £90 a night was overpriced in my opinion , as were the double rooms at £115. I stay in a few places like this and £80 to £90 for a double room with breakfast is more the norm .

Excellent foodCame here last night as party of 5. The food was excellent - compliments to the Chef. Only missed out on 5 stars as it would be nicer if the lights were dimmed slightly as the room was lit very brightly and it was a little frustrating that the waitress had to check every single thing we asked about. Inexperienced I suppose, but otherwise excellent and looking forward to coming back!

Traditional Cosy Coaching InnWe visited here for a night and we werent disappointed! We were greeted promptly, and given all the necessary information. Yes there is a charge for parking BUT I could understand this as the whole of the town is pay and display so this is out of the owners control. We had lunch and I had their delicious club sandwich. Our room was traditional with lovely oak beams. I loved the history and its utterly quirky parts. Our stay was fabulous and wouldnt hesitate to return.
