  Great Hotel

  A lovely comfortable hotel which is a 10 minute walk away from the centre of York. Breakfast was well organised and a good choice. There is a small car park which you have to pre-book and pay for. Had a great stay here and wouldnt hesitate to recommend it.

  Great location,food is not good for vegans

  Lovely looking hotel with staff who were polite. Clean. Comfortable. However, there were extremely limited vegan options for breakfast. No milk alternatives for porridge, or coffee or butter. I mean, it wouldn't be hard to have some oat milk in would it? No fresh fruit available either :( We had dinner in the restaurant also. Service was lovely, great wines, but the food was a bit miss on the vegetarian options again: salty carbs. Fresher, more healthy food choices would have improved my stay personally. Otherwise a lovely hotel.

  Beautiful Hotel

  This was a great deal I found on Travelzoo, the hotel was absolutely beautiful I loved how they have preserved the history of the 2 houses, you feel like you are back in time when walking around the hotel, it has a nice cosy ambience especially as winter is approaching. The staff are friendly and helpful, I got my hotel information pack emailed to me which was extremely useful. Facilities are fantastic, honestly there is nothing I could fault when it came to my stay. Both breakfast and lunch were served at the Ivy Brassiere the meals were delicious & fresh; I particularly enjoyed the smoked salmon served at breakfast (I forgot to take a picture of it as I ate it so quick). Please be aware that due to COVID-19 you have to pick a time slot when dining at the hotel to maintain social distancing. I will definitely rebook at the Grange when I comeback to York.

  Almost Very Good.

  When reviewing anything these days one has to take into account the restrictions regarding Covid-19. That said the hotel appeared to cope very well. It was important to book dinner and breakfast times which was trouble free. When we booked in we were given room 6, however, this being a premier room was quite large and the ceiling very high. It would have been nice if the room had been heated before being allocated as it was very cold and took a long time to warm up. The bathroom was adequate but the illuminated make up mirror did not work and it was very loose which meant that you had to hold it to use it. The curtains had seen better days and were coming away from the rail at one end. There was a small fridge on the wall that contained fresh milk, nice gesture. We stayed two nights and used the bar facilities, very good; and the hotel restaurant also very good. The parking was ok but its a shame that you have to pay £12.50 per night. If it had been added to the cost of staying it would have felt that parking was a good deal! There was a slight problem with our bill which was corrected immediately. would we stay again-yes.

  Lovely hotel with great staff

  Weve just returned from a two night break at The Grange Hotel and would definitely recommend it! We were originally due to go in April but had to rearrange due to covid. In that time weve since had a baby so brought him along too. Unfortunately we didnt think to ask for an accessible room so it was a bit difficult (not all rooms are fully accessible by lift) but the hotel staff couldnt have been more helpful. They assisted with the bags and also let us keep the pushchair downstairs in reception. The room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. Little touches such as fresh milk and White Company toiletries were much appreciated! The hotel itself is beautiful and it has a really comfy lounge area where you can enjoy a drink. We had dinner on the first night in the restaurant which was great. Ours was included on the deal we had purchased - if you didnt have dinner included it was £32.50 for three courses which was probably a little steep but the food was lovely. The bar prices were quite reasonable. Breakfast was great on the first morning but not quite as good on the second day even though we ordered the same food. Its table service due to Covid but with a great selection. The location of the hotel is good, approx 10 minute walk to the city centre. We also paid for parking at the hotel. Overall would definitely return but next time would request an accessible room.
