  Sunday Festive Lunch

  The heated winter huts at the Lion were the perfect location for meeting family members in a small group outdoors. I was impressed from the moment I made the telephone booking when I was asked several questions about who would be attending and what postcodes they lived in. This showed me that The Lion were taking covid rules very seriously. The huts are simply stunning; festively decorated and well equipped with heater and blankets. It all looks quite magical! We were offered a choice of menus and enjoyed delicious high quality well presented food with was piping hot. Two of us chose turkey from the festive menu and the other had roast beef. Service was excellent and attentive from start to finish and we were even offered hot water bottles! We could not have enjoyed it more, especially on such a wet horrid day. Thank you to everyone involved.

  The best local!

  The Golden Lion has pulled out all the stops this Christmas. Weve been several times in December, either just the 2 of us or with a couple of friends so dining outside. Every time has been spot on. Fred and Peter always make you feel really welcome and looked after with great wine recommendations and cocktails. We know how lucky we are to be able to call this our local. The food is always excellent wether you go for the normal menu, the festive menu or the full winter wonderland feast! Ive yet to try the festive afternoon tea, but hopefully can get one in before new year and the threatened lockdown. These guys have made COVID safe dining a speciality and have done a wonderful job of adapting to the rules. Thanks for making Christmas feel a little bit like it should! Jen and Pete. Xx

  Visit for Lunch

  Visited Golden Lion 28th December for a meal. Greeted by very friendly staff who followed COVID procedure as it should be done. Food was very good and staff very attentive throughout. Will definitely call again. Well done to all.

  Wonderful staff

  I stayed here this Twixmas, the food was great and the staff we very friendly and observed the COVID rules. The staff came into their own when I got stuck on ice, they could not have been more helpful and although I had missed breakfast they made sure I had something to eat. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and I will be back. Special thanks to Hannah but I know it was a team effort.

  Fantastic 18th Birthday Celebration

  Due to COVID my daughter was unable to celebrate her 18th Birthday as she would have liked. We booked an outside area for her and 5 friends at the Golden Lion which was exceptional. The food was fantastic as was the service and atmosphere. All had a great time and the birthday cake with sparklers was a special touch, thank you all at the Golden Lion for making this a memorable evening. On a separate note the COVID secure control measures were simply brilliant making everyone feel at ease. 5*!
