Central HotelMy daughter and I stayed here - the welcome was 2nd to none, all the staff we met were so friendly. The hotel is very clean. Its position is perfect as the hotel is so central. I will certainly book again.

Unwelcome at the Dragons LairWe arrived slightly early to be greeted by the bunion bulging bare footed Dragon who in no uncertain terms told us that it was totally against their policy to allow anyone to check in prior to 3pm, apparently this was a policy which if broken would allow all and sundry to turn up as and when they pleased causing chaos with the system. This wasn't actually a problem for us as she allowed us to leave our bags in what she called the office which was a darkened room with a fridge, various household objects and a computer. We were leaving when my daughter asked if there was a toilet she could use which was met with the comment that the place wasn't a public convenience for all and sundry off the street to use, however, she did open up access to the adjacent restaurant. Whilst waiting, the dragon without provocation breathed fire at the top of the stairs and decided to have a go at my second daughter and said that if she was laughing then we didnt have to stay and should leave. We were absolutely shocked that the unkempt so called receptionist was so aggressive we actually pondered whether we really wanted to stay, we had three rooms booked and we were only there for one night, my lad decided to bail and wasn't prepared to be insulted any more. We came back later that day and finally checked in to be shown our shoddy rooms with damp walls, no wardrobes and manky threadbare carpets, accessed via a creaky corridor with wedged open fire doors, although thankfully the beds were clean. I can honestly say that this must be one of the worst hotels in the world, with an aggressive dragon receptionist ready to breathe a firey insult and you would be better off in the doorway of the shop next door than to stay here.

George Hotel was my cousy home for a whileI lived in this hotel for quite a while. To be more exact starting from January till August this year. I've worked in Bishop's Stortford for a while as a carer during this rough times, and for a while it was my home sweet home. The place is nice and first of all affordable. I would totally recommend it for a long term settlement, or for a place to crash for a few days if you are visiting because it's literally in the very core of the town. There you will meet Dee the manager and the receptionist who is a genuinely kind and hard working person, ready to help you with anything anytime. I saw some nasty comments here and there and I've come to know Dee pretty well in almost a year that I've stayed there, and I can guarantee she is one of the most kind, polite, easy-going, smart and hardworking persons that I had the chance to meet in this life. So if you maybe didn't get along with her at some point you probably did something wrong, stupid or rude, or all of the above. If you are expecting a six star accommodation priced at 3 star and being allowed to be rude, maybe you should go somewhere else. Overall The George is the best solution regarding price - quality ratio that you will find in Bishop's Stortford. The rooms are clean, the Wi-Fi is decent, all the rooms have most of the times smart TV's. And since this pandemic crisis you also have a big fridge in the lobby wich I found very useful. P. S. What would I have done with out you Dee! ? Miss you! Looking forward to see you again!

Going above and beyondJust wanted to give a shout out to Dee, the manager here. She really made me feel welcome and was really kind and helpful during my stay (in room 1) and was really helpful and understanding. Thanks so much.
