  So disappointing!

  We stayed one night in the room with roll top bath. Everything was very tired. The refurbishment mentioned on the website either missed this room or it was a very long time ago.(Particularly nasty looking cover on the spare bed). Our host went to get us some fresh milk so that we could make a cup of tea - but it never arrived. The bathroom bin had not been emptied after the previous occupants - we mentioned this but it was not rectified , but the owner apolised the next morning. If you book this room , note that the bath is very small and there is no shower attachment - as a previous review has mentioned. There is no receptacle to use to pour water over your hair. TV is tiny- I stay in a lot of hotels - 2or 3 nights a week and a large tv is the norm now. Dinner was distinctly average, very dry roast potatoes on the Christmas dinner, my crab and cod fish cakes showed very little evidence of cod and none of crab - extremely bland. When I mentioned this on checkout, the owner found it necessary to tell us that he had had to move a couple in the testaurant and give them complimentary drinks because our group had been so loud. (Tit for tat!). As we were a group of seven for a Christmas celebratory meal, I am surprised a couple were placed next to us in the first place! We were not going to eat in silence! Breakfast was ok - anything cooked is charged extra. I think this place is punching above its weight - not good value for money at all! Very overpriced.

  Festive meal

  Great evening at the George and Dragon, Rowde. Mince Pies and Mulled Wine, then the Carol Service at the church, then back at G&D for a meal. Fantastic food and service as usual. Thanks Chippy and all your wonderful staff

  Christmas Supper....

  What a fantastic evening at the G&D.. Thoroughly enjoyed the Carole's at the church but the meal at the G&D was absolutely first class. The quality and quantity of food was fabulous and such great value... a must do evening and would highly recommend to anyone.. Thank you so much Chippy and your wonderful team.. wishing you all a very merry Christmas and see you in the New Year.... btw loved our table for two under the clock... just perfect xx

  overpriced and underwhelmed

  average food , for the price of good food! the service was appaling ,there main concern is to sell sell sell, and i found the grasping attitude and shabby & unkept appearance of the waiter most unpleasant ! it truly left a terrible taste in my mouth. NEVER AGAIN !!!

  Excellent veggie meal

  Had a lovely evening meal for a friend's birthday in December before Lockdown, while staying up the road. We're both veggie but the food was great (we'd rung ahead to let them know). Great service. Lovely atmosphere.
