  Stayed at the gateway while spending 3 days exploring Mayo, the hotel was an excellent base for seeing everything mayo had to offer, the room was very comfy and clean the breakfast was fantastic and we ate there two evenings also and both times the food was excellent, the staff were very friendly as was Cathal the manager, I would have no problem advising the gateway to anybody,

  Just spent 3 nights in the Gateway Hotel Swinford.

  Had a lovely break in Swinford , staying at the Gateway House. Cathal and his staff were great. We travelled around Mayo and Roscommon. The Gateway House was a great base. Definitely go back. My wife said the porridge was the best she had ever tasted. Well done

  LOVELY FOOD, RELAXED ENVIRONMENT, GREAT SERVICE

  If you are looking for a delicious meal in a relaxed atmosphere in Mayo, served without fuss - look no further. You are guaranteed a good night, a great selection of wines, tasty grub, and service is always spot on. This place gets better and better every year and the owner Cathal is always on-hand to make sure you are well looked after.

  Great food, pity about the staff

  Great food in this place, however its a pity the same can't be said for the staff. From the moment we sat down to the moment we left we dealt with 4/5 different staff members and the only nice member was a lad from donegal. We did mention to him at the end of the night about how unfriendly and unmannerly his colleagues were,hopegully he will pass this on to his boss and this will not happen to anybody else. Any drinks we ordered with our meal were fired on the table in front of us. Once we finished our meal we were more or less to our own devices and had to call upon staff to get a drink. They stopped coming over to us and made us feel like they wanted us to leave and we felt like we were putting the staff members out by ordering drinks. The staff members came across like they did not want to be there and would much rather be anywhere than at work. We had quite a substantial bill between the 6 of us. I would have thought that in times like this a business like this would be glad of our custom, however it was obvious that the staff members did not want the hassle of our custom. The food was lovely, but the staff was a huge letdown, hopefully if we were to visit again this would not be the case. The chances of us all visiting again are highly unlikely. Pity when the food is so lovely. Big thumbs up to the donegal lad, this hotel is lucky to have him.

  Excellent !!

  We stayed in The Gateway Hotel in July for a family holiday. From the moment we arrived , Cathal and his team gave us a great welcome.The hotel was spotless throughout , and every comfort was provided to us.The staff could not do enough for us, and made sure that our stay was a brilliant one. The food was excellent, with great variety, as was the service. The Gateway Hotel is the perfect base to explore the beautiful county of Mayo.
