  Disgracefully overpriced for such a rundown hotel

  We were there for a convention and actually stayed next door at the La Quinta Hotel for HALF the price! I witnessed several people complaining at the desk about the horrible state of their rooms and most of the people attending our convention complained that although they booked MONTHS in ADVANCE AND SPECIFICALLY ASKED, they could not get a ground floor room. All of the aforementioned are seniors with various disabilities and were not given any assistance lugging their luggage up and down the stairs! THERE ARE NO ELEVATORS. The dinner this hotel served for our Banquet was browning lettuce salad, a TV Dinner style Salisbury beef patty. Tiny portions of the cheapest food. I was so embarrassed that we had out of state guest from TX and OK attending our state convention! What must they think of our States food and hospitality? Then, the worst was when the ceilings started to leak and rooms were flooding as well as stairwells (indoors) during a rain storm. Pool closed as well.

  Karen Jones is AWESOME

  The hotel could be awesome, but there was no pride. It was not taken care of: lights out, sticky floors, not swept, cigarette buds liter walkways. The best thing about this hotel was Karen Jones the breakfast cook. She was for sure a diamond in the rough. Put her in charge of this hotel and it would no doubt get turned around. She has customer service, a clean restaurant, and she made sure every guest was happy. Thanks Karen

  Awesome place to be

  Tania Burke made my stay so much better! She's awesome I have enjoyed my stay made me feel safe and was always pleasant to me she went out of her way to help me...i will definitely be back especially when she is working

  Wonderful Experience at a Beautiful Physical Plant

  The Garden Plaza Hotel and Conference Center is set back off of the Evangeline Thruway but it merely hides one of the best hotels I've experienced during my time in Lafayette. The turnaround has been amazing as general manager Shawn Johnston and his staff have taken a beautiful hotel and turned it back into the fine establishment it was originally. I have received first class service from the front desk to housekeeping. Whenever I had a concern about something during my stay it was addressed quickly and professionally. I've read some of the negative reviews about how things were in the past but those problems are exactly that, in the past. I'd recommend the Garden Plaza to anyone and I know the changes I've witnessed are just the beginning of what portends to be a renaissance of sorts for this grand establishment.

  Towels had hair on them, staff does not try to help you.

  Mostly vacant rooms on Friday night. Evening hotel staff was rude and uncaring. We found pubic hair on our room towels. I asked the night clerk for fresh towels and she said, "We have no more towels to give you." I asked her if we could have the towels from one of their many vacant rooms. She stared at me for a long time then finally went to a vacant room and got those towels, she handed them to me and they were also full of hair. We found two semi clean hand towels and had to dry off with those later that night. Pool is advertised as heated, the pool water is freezing cold, low on water with a broken ladder. Hot tub is out of order, wi-fi does not work. breakfast tasted warmed over, coffee was watered down. The bed we slept in was broken and V shaped. The bathtub was dirty. Another couple instantly found drug needle in their room as soon as they checked in, police were called out to check. Morning staff told me I would not be charged for a second night since we decided to leave the next morning due to a broken down, filthy hotel. This hotel is billing me for the second night, they lied to me. Stay away from this hotel and steer clear of hotels.com.
