    Not as enjoyable as usual.

We eat here quite often and recently decided to go for Sunday Lunch. Shown to our table and had to wait a while for our drinks order but maybe they were extra busy? We ordered our meal a bit later and when it arrived it was nice to see the gravy in its own little jug as some of us like to put the gravy on ourselves so far so good. Alas and this is not just the Four Horseshoes but many pubs that I have eaten in the knives are blunt and I could not cut into my roast spuds which were barely roasted anyway and even my Yorkshire pudding which I had to pull apart. Luckily the meat must have been the end of the joint because although it was very tender it came up in chunks not slices . Someone on another table must have finished their meal because they had a toddler with them that had got bored and proceeded to run around and scream spoiling a nice quiet pubs peace. Why do people take toddlers to pubs and then think that we all are prepared to put up with their screaming . I love kids but do not want to put up with them running around spoiling my meal. We will give the Sunday lunch a rest for a while and visit at other times.

    Evening meal

We stayed in Suffolk last week and twice ate at the Four Horseshoes .We were impressed by the friendliness of the staff and also their attention to safety at this strange time. The first night we shared a starter and then went on to a Gammon steak and trimmings and fish and chips .Both came nicely presented ,piping hot and managed to defeat both of us .On the second visit we went into the main meal both of which were very nice .The fish pie for me and the steak pie for my husband .Izzy or waitress was lovely as were all the other members of staff.

    5* Sunday Lunch

First Sunday lunch out since lockdown (it's been a while!) and the Horseshoes was undoubtedly the place we were going to, and we're so pleased we did! Although not a carvery (which we will miss) they did a fabulous job with serving plated roasts. I had the lamb shank which was gorgeous, just fell of the bone, my partner had the Braised Beef (which must have been good as it was gone before I could ask how it was!) Lovely big portions, with the choice to add extra bits (Yorkshire of course! - again MASSIVE!) Staff were warm friendly & helpful as always, and all Covid measure were being followed and done so without making it feel cold and awkward. Well done to Tom, Sarah & the team, we can't wait to come back (I'd ignore the idiot below , keep up the great work!)

    Over night stay

A traditional pub, full of character. Lovely open fire, plenty of spaced out seating, very Christmassy at present. Staff were very helpful and welcoming. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Staff are very covid aware and we felt comfortable being there. We had our evening meal there which was difficult to choose as the menu had plenty to offer. Breakfast, which is included in the price was very, very good. Would definitely stay again. Nothing negative to say. Thank you Gill & Ken

    Big Let Down

Been to this pub many times over the years for a carvery on a Sunday and have always enjoyed it. Never thought I'd give it a bad review but I'm really disappointed in the meal we were served recently. It was our first visit here since lockdown eased and we were expecting our usual carvery. We've had carveries elsewhere, they are still being served. The only difference is that we have had someone behind the counter dishing up our plates with our choices. When I booked the table for Sunday lunch nothing was mentioned on the telephone about any changes so I didn't expect any. Their website doesn't mention any changes to the menu either. When we arrived we were concerned at not seeing the carvery, we were told that there is still a roast but as per the new menu. There were 4 choices of meat at varying prices. It was dearer than their usual prices and you had to pay extra for a yorkshire pudding, extra for red cabbage. Extra really for anything nice that you'd usually get as part of the meal. The quality and quantity of what was served to us was awful. The beef was tough, I couldn't eat it. There was one carrot, one parsnip and a spoonful of mixed slop which consisted of white cabbage, peas and fine beans. We are fortunate enough to eat out often and this was sadly one of the worst I have ever had. I am cross that there was no mention anywhere that a carvery was not being served, if I had known we would of gone elsewhere. The extra charges and bad food were horrendous. We were charged over £60 for drinks and 3 awful main meals. We skipped the desserts, couldn't wait to leave. This has left a very bad taste and we won't be coming back anymore.
