  Very friendly place

  The hotel has so much character. The room was really well designed and the breakfast was delicious. The owners were also very polite and kind. I very well recommend it for your Cotswolds base. Most of the picturesque villages are not far away.

  Friendly place to stay

  Not only was the breakfast beautifully cooked, with plenty of choice, but the coffee was spot on. The room was spacious and clean. Our hosts were so friendly with pleanty of ideas for our stay. The town is within easy distance of so many places.

  A good place to visit the area from

  The landlord and landlady are friendly and approachable and have a wealth of local knowledge. Our room (1) was spacious with plenty of outlets and cupboard space. The shower was full pressure and good. The bed was large although for us slightly too firm but thats a personal choice. The wi-fi was OK when it worked but it was very erratic. Breakfast was excellent. We had a strange request because we were visiting our family in the area and being joined by other members of the family from various regions around the UK. Because we wanted to have a pre-christmas reunion we sked if they would give us a traditional Christmas meal on the Saturday evening of our stay. They really pushed the boat out for us with a turkey roast, decorations, fairy lights and small Christmas tree. They even put Christmas carols as background music for us. Everybody, including the regulars, enjoyed it and joined in the atmosphere. Thank you Dave and Carol.

  Stay over as close to wedding venue

  We needed to stay in Shipston-on-Stour as it was close to a wedding venue, we chose this place as a few other wedding guests were also staying. Good bits Off street parking Friendly landlords Amazing breakfast Water Tea/coffee and biscuits in room Lovely bedding NOT so great On return at night our keys didnt work and we couldnt get in, even our friends who were in could not use their key to open the door so we were outside for what seemed like ages while we contacted landlords, in the end we had to use another door but it was v annoying. There was a musty damp smell in the bathroom Rock hard bed did not give a good night sleep Shipston-on-Stour does not have a vast Taxi service which resulted in us phoning a few who were not interested in picking us up after the wedding, However Roy from Miles Private Hire was amazing and we would recommend, he did a fantastic job making return trips to ensure everyone got a lift home. A mixed review but mostly good, we paid £90 per room

  Pleasant surprise

  Went into the white horse after work, quite new to shipston. It was quiet but out of all the places in shipston they gave the warmest welcome. Both owners kept us chatting was just like a real local pub, a lot of the other pubs seem to focus on procedure and not really the personal touch of an actual conversation. We loved it and we are returning 4 a Sunday carvery this Sunday xxx thank you so much you made our evening
