5 star experience, top class hotel, facilities and service!I stayed for x2 nights in the hotel - on arriving at the hotel the staff behind the reception were lovely, welcoming and professional, giving me all the info I needed for a pleasant stay. The hotel room top notch, a lot of effort had gone into ensuring they were clean and prepped in a manner to abide by Covid rules and regs. The room had all the amenities you would expect making it a really pleasant and enjoyable stay. I tried out the gym, again the gym team were great in doing the necessary health checks, taking an interest and asking questions about what exercise I do currently and offered me the support I needed. Equipment was top quality and a nice improvement on the mediocre equipment in my regular gym at home. All round a lovely stay, no issues whatsoever and I would definitely return again! 5*

Not cleanFirstly annoying to take all my belongings to the hotel entrance and the reception is in a seperate building. (its raining) walking to my room I was shocked how dirty the carpet is. The first floor landing smells of unine and cigarettes from people smoking on the balcony with the doors open. The room had a lovely big bed. Nice and clean and very comfortable. The room was just passable. The windows have finger prints all over not great when in a pandemic. The bathroom was unbelievabley sub standard. I won't be stepping in the bath. Stained with limescale. The shower curtain looks old and the thought of that sticking to me whilst in the shower gives me shivers. I booked this thinking it would be nicer than the hotels in Colchester and worth the 30 minute drive. It wasn't. Cant stay somewhere that I can't shower.

Basic Hotel and Bland Golf Course but course in good conditionBooked a combined Golf and dinner, bed & breakfast package via a Golf agency. Booked separate rooms for a supplement of £44 pp versus the normal Sunday night fee pp of £89, This is by far the highest both in percentage and amount we have had to pay for a single room supplement. Upon arrival, the entrance is via a business park and is very functional. In summary of what were good and less good aspects on the 2-day trip: GOOD 1) Parking for the hotel and golf is ample and close to the facilities 2) The reception area was clean and efficient. 3) The room size was good 4) Room cleanliness was excellent 5) Tea & Coffee facilities included a pack of biscuits 6) The bed and pillows were excellent 7) The electronically heated towel rail was an added bonus 8) The evening meal was beautifully presented, as was breakfast. 9) Greens were in excellent condition as was the overall course LESS GOOD 1) Sign in at the start of the round was unclear as the starters hut was unmanned as was the pro shop 2) The scorecard didn't include a course map (unlike most course scorecards) which was not ideal 3) Bar the first tee no other tee had a hole marker which in my experience is unique in a bad way, especially as the scorecard had no course map. 4) The course design is quite anaemic without any elevation changes and a real up and down feel. 5) In-room and the accommodation block it was a Travelodge feel linked to a business park rather than the "Country Club" of the title 6) Play was very slow with old lady members no allowing faster players to play through and thus backing up every playing group for the whole day and no course marshall insight. 7) TV in the bedroom was ridiculously small. 8) Staffing was limited and of those on-site, they closed bars and restaurants early and even reception was closed very early. It feels very part-time all round. 9) Bar had a very limited range of drinks, making it feel like a wedding bar. 10) The course is next to an airfield and thus quite allot of aircraft noise during the week. No spa facilities were open (I assume) as no offer or details of how to access them were given at check-in.
