  Beautiful Location

  A classy, if expensive getaway set in perhaps the most beautiful of the Yorkshire Dales. The old building is traditional, the new extension rather ugly but inside everywhere is maintained to a high standard. Some of the standard rooms are surprisingly small for the price tag but are well equipped. The restaurant is good though no one would get fat on the portions. Staff are attentive and professional. The extensive wine list is outrageously marked up!

  THE DUCHESS CHOICE DINING GORMET RECIPE BOX IS HEAVENLY

  My wife and I enjoyed one of these recipe box's last weekend. It was absolutely delicious. Each of the 3 courses was clearly created and cooked by a chef; each had it's own special something. The marmalade jam in the starter was exquisite. The meat in the main course melted in your mouth. The sticky toffee pudding was heavenly wickedness. The portions were very generous too, very very generous. I can't recommend trying one of these too highly. We will undoubtedly be ordering another.

  Lovely stay

  My partner and I stayed here for her 40th birthday earlier this week. It was absolutely lovely. Its an old style building and the decor is grand and stately in effect. We got a complimentary upgrade and a card and some soaps as a gift which was a lovely touch from the staff. The Chatsworth room was a plush suite. 4 poster bed, deep bath (heated floor) and big shower. Lots of goodies and drinks in the mini bar too. Bed was super comfy and room was quiet (apart from the fire alarm going off briefly shortly before bedtime). We used the spa which is just a 30 second walk across the road. Its nice and it was quiet. We are in the Brasserie in the evening and we loved it. I had a carrot selection starter which was way better than it sounds. Good wines too. Breakfast was plentiful the next day and presented really well. Would certainly recommend.

  Mini moon heaven

  Had our Covid mini moon here after finally getting married with a third date attempt. From the moment we pulled up on the drive it was special. The room was gorgeous, I loved the four poster, hotel immaculate and very cosy. Nothing was too much trouble. Great food. The staff were all so friendly especially Barry who never seems to go home, is always on hand and makes the stay very personal. Thank you all and Happy Christmas!

  New Years Eve Food box

  Wow, wow, wow! It took us two evenings to eat our New Years Eve box (plus salmon and cheese) and all I can say it this has been the most wonderful experience! Delicious lobster cocktail and salmon, the Beef Wellington was so succulent and the chocolate fondant was perfect. We have just finished the cheese course with a glass of port and would like to thank the chef for our wonderful meal. Ps. Last October I had a food box from a Michelin Star restaurant which I thought was great but yours just knocks it out of the park! Well done!
