Stay...but only if you really have to!

Stayed two nights as attending a wedding in Ashford. Following a three hour drive we arrived around 8 pm tired and hungry and so we were eager to dine in the onsite Italian restaurant. The food was on the whole was OK but I expect bruscetta to be a bit more than a slice of pizza with just a few chopped tomatoes and very little else. We complained to the waitress but her reply "that's the way chef does them" did little to appease us. There was only one other couple dining and so we thought our main courses would arrive promptly enabling us to retire early to bed for the wedding on the following day. After 40 minutes we enquired as to the progress stating that we had been waiting over half an hour. The waitrose replied "half an hour?...that's nothing" The shower valve was extremely difficult to turn on and the bathroom lacked a mirror. Unacceptible, surely a prerequisite for any hotel bathroom?I shaved to a small mirror that my wife keeps in her purse. Unacceptible, surely a prerequisite for any hotel bathroom? The following day we returned to the room around 11am to dress for the wedding later that day. The housekeepers were busy in other rooms as we departed for the church. Upon our return at the end of the day, we found that the room had not been made up.

    So-So hotel

A budget hotel on the outskirts of Ashford. I have read a lot of the bad reviews about The Croft and I beg to differ. Although the rooms are a little dated and yes you do have to run round in the shower to get wet. This is not as bad as everyone seems to be making out. The Croft is a reasonably priced hotel. Rooms are clean and beds are comfy. Quiet and not to far from the town centre. It is perfect for lads working away ( a bit pricey for a can of guiness £4 ). It has restaurant on it, but I can not comment as I did not eat there.

I wouldnt let my dead goldfish stay here

After a nightmare trip I didnt manage to get to my hotel until 1.30 am (not the hotels fault), I couldnt wait to get in to my room! I went straight to the bathroom, there was a poo in the toilet, literally sat there looking up at me, the towels were absolutely filthy, they hadnt been washed, and it was dirty all round to be fair. I then got to my bed which also wasnt clean, the radiator didnt work I slept in pjs plus a hoody! When I woke in the morning I turned the shower on, no hot water (surprise) thought Id have a wash instead, turned the hot tap on, dont know why I bothered, went to take my key to reception and complain and make payment , no one was there, phoned the owners, obviously woken them up for them to tell me leave the key in the door and that they had already taken my money! AVOID AT ALL COSTS
