    Avoid at all Costs!!

We stayed here in June 2019. Very far out from the town. The hotel smelt of Indian Takeaway, no surprise, one next door. Rooms were bland. Food was ok. For the price, it felt more like a guest house not a hotel. To top it all, my sister was asked for a credit card to reserve the room. When she paid in cash, she asked for a receipt and checked than nothing had been removed from her credit card. Upon returning home, money had been withdrawn from her credit card too. As I browsed through other reviews of this place, this seems to be a recurrence. Please check that if and when you stay here.....they don't withdraw from your bank account too!! Be warned!

More a hostel than a hotel

This is a no frills place to stay. The room was large and clean. Furnishing like a hostel. Dont open the window as smells from the takeaway permeate through. Shower with stained grout. Toilet seat not fixed properly. Tap in basin had hole so water coming out from the bottom. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast consists of fruit on the sideboard(grapes still in packet),small cereal boxes and orange juice. Cooked breakfast was good. Tea and coffee available but no fruit teas or decaf option. Overall not value for money. £60 a night including breakfast would have been okay and not worth the £95 we had to pay. The staff do not smile or engage at all with the customers.

    Honest accomdation, friendly welcome

They have refurbished some (all?) rooms, new baths etc. Good location, honest pricing, very congenial relaxed and family-type welcome by the hosts; nice breakfast; just next door great Indian and other food (also take away). Came here 2nd time and will definitely stay here again if and when back in Helensburgh

Really really good for a 2 star

Breakfast was amazing, and the room and bathroom was really good too. A higher end 2 star hotel hence why I'm rating it 5 out of 5. My only complaint is that the price is expensive, but it was the only option we had in the area. But overall great

    Unfriendly greeting and service.

When we arrived a dour taciturn man was on reception. Not at all friendly. Room was clean enough but really cold when we arrived. Toilet seat was broken. A dirty old van covered in moss, which must have been there for years, was our view from the window. No evening dining facilities. We arranged breakfast for 8.30 . There was nobody around next morning and the dining room was locked. We rang the bell and had no response. I went to a door in the corridor marked for staff only and last night's genial host was pulling on his clothes and exiting the room. He opened up without a word. The fruit offering consisted of one wrinkled apple at least a fortnight old and one satsuma. Small boxes of cereal. No milk. The pot of tea did not have strength enough to crawl out of the cup. The dining room was unmade- no table linen, dirty dishes from a previous day still on one table. The breakfast was greasy as hell. No choice of brown or white toast. Just one slice each of pale insipid white. No conversation. No other guests unsurprisingly. And £95 for the privilege when laughing boy signed us out. He must be joking!
