  Mixed bag.

  The overall experience was just okay. We stayed overnight in a room described as a queen upgrade but the wallpaper was coming apart at just about every seam which detracted from what would have been a small but pleasant room. It was also very difficult to turn the knobs in the bathtub/shower. I also had three failed attempts to use the phone in the room. It just didn't seem to be working and it took us some time to figure out that the tv wasn't working because it had been unplugged. They were doing some work on the exterior of the building which is good but left a poll sticking far into the entryway at eye level until we pointed out the danger. The hotel menu was basic but the morning breakfast bacon was superior and the fried oysters were fantastic. With one or two exceptions the staff were technically polite but lacked cordiality and (SA) "situational awareness". I don't think they were a very happy lot which usually attests to the general attitude of management. They did take trouble to keep us safe during this virus plague.

  A wonder retreat

  This was my first hotel venture out since Covid, and we felt very safe and comfortable with their protocols. The stay was for a reunion with a friend, and it was the perfect retreat to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Although Essex is only a few minutes away, we chose to spend most of our time at the CB. Dinner was wonderful. Staff very helpful and the rooms were very large and comfortable. The terrace was a very nice size so be sure to request a room that has one. The only thing missing was an in-room coffee pot. I dont know if theyre available on request. Overall, a lovely stay and Id definitely like to return.

  This is not even a good resort.

  I booked The Copper Beech Inn for a weekend getaway based on all the great reviews. They are totally unwarranted! I get that we are living in a pandemic and things are not normal but some things are just inexcusable. I spent time looking at the website selecting a deluxe room on a second floor in one of the outbuildings because we like quiet. I selected the room because it had a deck and a king size bed. We checked in went to the room and the key didnt work. I called the front desk and she came with another key that didnt work. This is a bad start. She called someone else who came with numerous keys and one worked. The check in package had no password for the internet. We got into the room and the first thing I see is a sign saying deck closed under construction. There was no obvious construction going on. I went to call the front desk but the phone didnt work. My wife went to the bathroom and came out and said look at the toilet seat. Theres an old toilet seat with paint removed in 2 spots and one of the lights is off. My wife put clothes in the closet and saw a panel leaning against the back wall so she moved the panel only to see a hole in the wall. We went to go out and I went to lock the door but the key only worked for the door look not the double, safety lock. This entire unit needs to be shut down and renovated and should never have been rented out. Do NOT rent unit 218. The next morning after breakfast which despite what people say is terrible. The choices are extremely limited. They will make 2 eggs any style but really cant make an omelette. Service to get an egg mc muffin and pancakes was extremely slow. After breakfast I asked to speak to the manager. I was told the manager was not in. I was asked whats the problem. I said we are in room 218 and named 2 problems and said theres a lot more. The young man said that figures. I saw a card with the owners name and said I guess Ill just have to contact him. He said yea do that and walked away. I sent an email to the owner and that was a total waste of time since he hasnt had the courtesy to respond. Do yourself a favor and do NOT stay here. There are many nice hotels and inns close by.

  Beautiful location and wonderful service!

  This location is beautiful to visit in all seasons. I had the pleasure of enjoying a summer time lunch and recently being there for a fall visit. The food is delicious and the staff are SO nice and helpful. Particularly Sam and Claudia, they have both been very professional, prompt, and kind. I highly recommend this location for an overnight weekend stay or a stop by breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

  A great getaway !

  Stayed at the inn for two nights and had a lovely time, in spite of the pandemic ! Service was great as they try to attend to guests while handling social distancing. I know it is a struggle for many businesses and we believe the staff cares !! Great dining atmosphere and the food was delicious. Will definitely go back hopefully after the pandemic to enjoy all this elegant inn has to offer.
