    Love this place !!

Amazing location directly on the beach. The food is excellent and the service always of a high standard, we have eaten there many times and cannot fault the restaurant and bar service. The brasserie setting with a sea view is lovely. Would definitely recommend for a evening meal.

    Great hotel

Stayed here for one night's B&B, as holiday plans the following week elsewhere dashed by lockdown. The hotel was larger and plusher than I expected, just a convenient minute or two's walk from Cooden Beach railway station. It was right on the beach in a peaceful residential area - a bit less isolated than I was expecting. All the staff were friendly, efficient and smartly dressed. Room spotless, peaceful, and with a seaview and a bath, so that was great. Food delicious and good sized portions. One particular highlight for me was the room service cooked breakfast. It was the best hotel cooked beakfast that i've ever had !! All my favourite ingredients perfectly cooked !! I love fried bread, and I chose baked beans, bacon and sausages to go with it; also I requested poached eggs instead of scrambled, and that wasn't a problem.Generous portions too ! Thank you to all the staff - I wish you well.

    Nearly Very Nice

Great location, right on the beach, and only a short drive from Bexhill town. If the weather permits, the outdoor terrace is a great place for a drink or two. Pleasant enough hotel, but with a slightly corporate feel and some of the staff efficient but a little wooden. Reception staff were lovely and Nico (from memory) a young Romanian guy, by far and away the best waiter - with a bit more personality, but no less professionalism. The main restaurant is huge, so dont expect intimate dining; the food was nice, and plentiful, but without too much style. Our room was clean and functional, but the decor tired, and the view awful! Admittedly a late booking, but I think there ought to be a warning or price concession, for customers who dont particularly have an interest in roofs, cables, and multiple steel cooking or heating vents. The net curtain masked this, but opening the window exposed the view and noise associated with the plant. I raised this point via an email, and also queried why we staff could not benefit from a Sunday night discount offer (apparently we booked at the wrong time), but alas I never received a reply to these points, nor my general feedback. I said wed stay there again, but it was disappointing not to get a response to some helpful feedback. So in summary, nearly a very nice hotel, needs a personality, and needs to listen to customers.

    Dinner

Came here today with two tables booked due to covid and numbers. One table had afternoon tea and our table had dinner. The dinner was awful! Fish pie came with 20% fish and 80% mash potatoe. The breaded escalope came with roast pots but no veg or gravy of any kind, so ordered a side of carrots and asked for a jug of gravy which came out cold. They did warm it up though once I mentioned it. We complained about the fish pie and they generously removed it from the bill, however the bill was still £80 for 2 starters, 2 mains, a kids meal, 1 wine and 3 soft drinks. Thought that was quite excessive and would definitely not eat a meal here again. The afternoon tea however, was gorgeous apparently. We should've had that!

    No Christmas lunch

Booked a table for lunch and was disappointed to hear they'd only serve Christmas dinner with turkey and trimmings if all of my party of three were having it. Unfortunately my mother in law wanted steak so my partner and I were refused the Christmas menu. I found it a very strange policy. I opted for the steak steak which was nice but ive had better tbh. The restaurant was very quiet. Only us and one other table. Ive been to the Cooden Beach Hotel many times and I'll continue to go there in the future when I'm in the area. Ive had many great times there. Had a lovely afternoon tea during the summer on one if those beautiful warm days and I'd recommended it but i am still scratching my head about the Christmas dinner policy. I didnt make a fuss at the time as i didnt want to upset my Mum in law who, like many, has had an awful year and this was her first time outside her home in months. Ive only given 3/5 becase of this problem. Might have been 2 but for the top visits in the past A shame.
