  Una maravilla

  Encontrar St Mary´s Ave no fue fácil para el taxista que tomé desde la terminal de buses, pero una vez que llegamos al Concierge me quedó claro que era un oasis en Durban. Desde la decoración que es moderna pero a la vez tiene mucho estilo y clase, la atención del personal que te recibe, la comodidad y tamaño de las habitaciones, el delicioso desayuno (incluido en el precio de la habitación), las mesitas bajo los árboles para desayunar o comer o tomar unas craft beer, todo es espectacular. El manager es además muy atento para contactar un taxi (comparando precios y ofreciéndole a uno lo más económico), mantener en custodia el equipaje, dar tips sobre la ciudad, en fin, es una de las mejores experiencias de hotel que he tenido en mis viajes. Regresaría a Durban sólo para alojarme en el Concierge de nuevo.

  Loved this place!

  We are in our mid 50s and really enjoyed our stay here. It is unusual but delightful. Our car was within the courtyard and we decided to walk or use Uber. We walked to the Florida Road restaurants twice and ate nearby the first night. I dont know about other areas but we found it fine. We also walked to the Botanic Gardens taking in a bit of Gold Cup race day en route. Our breakfast wasnt included but we were delighted with Freedom Cafe in the courtyard where the Smoked salmon Benedict was super

  Nice hotel with great staff, but

  Beautiful rooms with very secured parking past 2 gates. Staff were nice. But, 3 main problems 1. WiFi wasn't working through entire 2 nights there. Showed the staff that it wouldn't connect on all of my 4 devices. Staff said their provider said all is ok but it did not solve my problem. Offered me to use the lobby WiFi, but the lobby is not sheltered from the rooms and it was raining constantly. Had to purchase a data bundle at my own cost to ensure I had Internet coverage in the rooms. 2. TV wasn't working on the first night. Had to ask staff to reset. 3. Safe deposit box was not working all 2 nights. Staff said nothing they can do but put it with their lobby safe. Overall nice place let down by 3 key points.

  Highly recommended boutique hotel in Durban!

  I went there for a couple of days and spent a whole week. Very comfortable and quiet, big rooms and nice environment. There is a cafe where you can have nice breakfast and lunch and people is really helpful. Special thanks to Abdul, Shakira, Vincent and all the staff in the Freedom café as well as room service. As a European, I would say maybe the neighborhood is not the best one, but I think insecurity is common all around Durban. Still, I felt this hotel like an oasis where you can rest. I would return without a doubt.

  one of my favorite boutique hotels anywhere

  The Concierge is a little boutique hotel in Durban's Berea neighborhood, a few blocks off of Florida Road's restaurants and shops. While Durban streets can feel tense these days, Florida Road is safe, and ubering to and from the Concierge is completely safe. The hotel is brilliantly designed and laid out. Rooms are just lovely. Free wifi throughout. Tip: the courtyard-facing rooms are larger. We had the street-facing rooms because our family preferred an adjoining patio and they were completely comfortable too, however. Decor is lovely. We heard they are about to update which didn't need necessary given how appealing it is now. Staff are present and ready to help around the clock. Small number of rooms means exceptional service. The folks who run the hotel could work in any hotel in the world -- incredibly professional, helpful, fun to talk with, knowledgeable, warm and welcoming. The hotel is arranged around the Freedom Cafe, referred separately -- vegetarian, great food, beer and wine, open for breakfast and lunch, and dinner with special advance arrangements for hotel guests. The Cafe owners and staff are not hotel employees but seamlessly coordinate with The Concierge to make for a complete stay experience. The courtyard is leafy and shaded under a huge tree. The whole atmosphere is stylish, low-key, interesting, urbane, and delightful. I won't stay anywhere else when I return to Durban. My colleagues stayed at the Hilton downtown and had a completely different and much less delightful time while we were in town. Would not recommend walking to Florida Road based on staff advice but it's a $3 uber ride away. I was so glad to have gone off the beaten track and found this place! If they are booked they have two sister hotel properties in Durban as well--just call or email for information. Love this place.
