    Ohhhh.... the ants....and the elephant sized room.

    As regular travelers to the Vero area, we have stayed at hotels there; big and small. Having been referred by a client of mine, I took a look at the Caribbean and it looked nice and quaint. The prices were quite a bit higher (300 after tax) than we normally pay, but being I had been told it was a cool little spot, we decided to splurge. From the arrival, it went sideways. We were told that the room I had ordered and reserved wasnt available and I was being upgraded. Hmm... upgraded from the most expensive room? Ok, tell me more. We were walked upstairs and about as far away from our original poolside room as we could get. The bed was bigger, the room was smaller. The kitchenette was almost non existent and the balcony seating literally sat two chairs, if we stacked them on top of one another. I walked back downstairs to address the elephant in our elephant sized room and I was immediately accommodated by an apology from the owner, an offer for a free breakfast (which is free to anyone) and an offer of 40.00 off for the difference in price from the two rooms. (There was never actually an upgrade, the girl at the desk was new and she had no clue what she was doing.) My shocked face: Deciding to let it all pass and move on with our very mini staycation in our now price-comparable room, we decided to order room service. Looking over the menu we decided on a couple of appetizers totaling about $35.00. Called it in to the young lady at the desk and waited. About 5-7 minutes later a knock at the door. Same young lady from the front. Another apology. Totally different menu, what we ordered wasnt on it and we were provided with different options. Fine. Took another look and ordered. Apps arrived hot and delicious and were the best two things that happened. Next was our dinner reservation. We were seated in an empty restaurant, which was apparently a thoroughfare for the service staff to get outside to seat and serve guests arriving who were not guests of the hotel. Door opening and closing every 3 minutes or so...letting in a cold air draft and a huge slam. Service was slow, arduous really and when the food came out one of our orders was missed. We picked apart the first meal together and waited another 20 minutes for the next to come. It was luke warm and undersized for the 40.00 or so we paid. Service dragged and dragged. 2.5 hours in total by which time we were just exhausted with the day. Morning comes, so does our free breakfast. Two mini croissants, two hard boiled eggs, an orange, an apple some butter and jelly. Alrighty... Then in come the ants...yes... THE ants... APPARENTLY I HAD LEFT A DROPLET OF CREAMER ON THE KITCHENETTE COUNTER! For literally all of 20 minutes... and the ants were literally on it. I was done. All the way done. Checkout time! Yayyy! Went down to verify our charge was going to in fact show a 40.00 credit and to let the young lady know about the ant problem. I showed her a video so she knew I wasnt just trying to pick this place apart and get a freebie and I was again given an apology. I was then told I would have to wait because apparently the lady didnt know how to adjust prices either. I waited. She then told me she would email me the receipt with changes and I was out! Email came and showed the proper price Surprise... the card was charged full price. Looooonnnnggg story short, drop the ball once, I smile, drop the ball again, I laugh, drop the ball a third and fourth time and then penalize me? I write a review. If anyone cares to even read this... just wait til their prices dip to 65.00 a night where they belong, then itll be worth the excuses. End rant. (Pictures below are of our appetizers) figured Id at least spruce them up a bit on what they accomplished. Oh and the ants...

    Favorite Vero Hotel

    Vero's best kept secret! This is where my travel team , friends and family will stay moving forward to support the locals. Gorgeous property across from the beach! Restaurant and bar on site or you can walk to a few. Clean, beautiful grounds and friendly staff!

    Doesn't even feel like a hotel. It's like being on a Tropical Island. Lush vegetation, everything is so clean,and friendly attentive staff. Best "Hotel" I've ever stayed in. Will definitely come back!!! Can't begin to say enough positive things about it.

    Amazing - coming from OHIO - TheMorgans

    The owner is amazing (Boris)! Super friendly!! Couteous! We felt at home as soon as we checked in!! This was an amazing getaway!! I would recommend it to anyone trying to just get away from life! It was tax season for us and needed this! The beaches were beautiful as well! The office help was very good as well, Erin and Shanigue 1st time there and hope to be back next year! 5 star!!
