  Its a great place, home away from home. Greta staff, great rooms, clean, homely and great location near a shopping complex with great restaurants, supermarkets, banks, a phamarcy and a quality hospital nearby.

  Terrible Management Attitude

  I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on business. I selected this hotel based on good reviews and on their website were offering breakfast which many hotels were not because of the Covid issues. What this hotel considered as a breakfast was unbelievable. They brought a meal to the room in the evening in a plastic container. The first evening was some kind of meat pie, the second was Boerewors and vegetables. When I initially enquired about breakfast on the first morning I was only then informed that these evening meals were actually meant to be consumed for breakfast!! I actually could not believe a hotel would do this kind of thing! Regardless of this both meals looked disgusting and there was no way I would eat them in the evening let alone for breakfast! I should have taken photographs. A breakfast in anyones interpretation is a meal served in the morning and not in the evening for a guest to consume the next morning! A simple breakfast of fruit and yoghurt or something similar served in the morning to the room would have been simple. I As the restaurant was understandably closed they gave me a meal voucher for restaurants in the vicinity that were all closed and the one that was open would not accept it. My complaints to management about these issues fell on deaf ears. I requested a refund on the breakfast portion of the booking rate and was given a business card and email address to send my complaint and refund request. An email of formal complaint was sent and the request for a refund was denied as apparently I was supplied breakfast as were all other guests and no one else had any complaints. So they consider an evening meal delivered in a plastic container to be kept overnight in your room and consumed the next day for breakfast to be hygienic and acceptable. As if we dont have enough concerns about Covid!!

  Good location

  My stay was great but some things to keep in mind 1. Buy late night snacks at the nearby stores because there are no vending machines. We had electricity cut( load shedding) with covid lockdown curfew with no snacks from 8pm. No vending machines within the facility. 2. Room service restaurant is a weird fusion asian restaurant. If you love room service, you might not like it. There are many restaurant within 50m of the hotel so that's great. 3. Swimming pool closes at 5pm and you are right next to the patron of the restaurant who are all fully clothes and not staying at the hotel so it can be weird. 4. Free shuttle: Apparently not free and you have to book in advance. Had to uber around.

  Luxe tranquility

  My partner and I stayed at The Capital for one night in the hub of Pretoria. There's lots to do and the location is perfect. The staff is friendly and will readily assist the guests with any (reasonable) request. We booked the Executive room and found that it was the perfect fit; well-decorated, spacious, luxurious and fitted with the right amenities. Despite the busy surrounding areas, the room was quiet and tranquil and we were able to spend quality time. I would highly recommend this stay.

  Location, Convenience, Comfort

  My family and I spent three months in a two-bedroom apartment in the Capital Menlyn Maine. It was recommended to me by colleagues and I'm glad that I followed her advice. It is incredibly convenient being that it is connected to a great mall with three grocery stores, multiple restaurants, banks, and just about everything else you could want including a copy shop, clothing stores, etc. We spent our two weeks of quarantine here after arriving in South Africa and it was easy to have groceries and meals delivered. Since we didn't have a car for the first few months, living at the Capital made life really easy as we could easily pop downstairs for groceries and meals, as needed. There are plenty of Ubers around when you need to go somewhere. Our apartment was great - a little tight for three people but not bad. It featured a full kitchen which included a washer and dryer (although they are small and take quite some time to wash/dry a load). The kitchen is stocked with basic pots, pans, cups, plates, etc. There is a television in every room and the wireless internet is generally quite fast and reliable. I teleworked from the hotel and my son briefly did virtual learning from there so we really needed a reliable connection. There are desks in the bedrooms where you can easily set up a virtual office. The beds are huge and super comfortable. I wish I could have taken it with me! The rooms are tastefully decorated. The hotel has a lovely (but relatively small) pool on the second floor that overlooks the restaurants below. The pool deck is a nice place to hang out on a sunny day and is rarely crowded so we felt safe, even during the height of COVID. There is also a small gym with the basics which was almost always empty. The hotel staff were very friendly and accomodating (although I need to note they were less so to our African American colleagues who experienced a few challenges during their stay). My only regret is that the Capital chain has not yet rolled out a loyalty program which would have benefitted us greatly after a three month stay. With these few exceptions, I would definitely recommend the Capital for those looking for a comfortable, convenient place to stay in Pretoria.
