  Birthday meal

  we came to the Blue Boar for a family meal as ot was the brother in laws birthday die to cover a lot of restrictions are in place. our table was slightly delayed drinks too a lot longer than normal to b served but better to be safe than sorry. the food was amazing and the staff are absolutely lovely i have been Blue Boar a few times and I've never ever had a bad experience.

  bad experience

  Went to celebrate what would of been my sisters 50th birthday with an afternoon tea. My mum ended up in tears , waiting staff where very good. Manager how ever has no people skills what so ever !! What could of been a memorable time for us was spoilt by his didnt give a care less attitude!!! Waited an hour for sandwiches. Been here loads for dinner wont be returning...New management totally useless

  Afternoon Tea

  Me and my daughter had a lovely afternoon tea. My daughter had booked it through groupon for me, but there was a mix up and they had no record of it. They honoured it anyway and the chef put one together for us. Very friendly staff. Will definitely do it again (but this time through the restaurant instead of Groupon).

  Excellent hotel in Essex . I will stay again

  Stayed one night in clean comfortable room. Free parking. Covid safe. Friendly staff. Wi-fi not working as someone stole the boosters! I am sure they have replaced them by now. Parking next to hotel . Quiet room clean.

  Amazing food and service

  My friends and I were getting together to celebrate Christmas. We sat in the beautifully decorated gazebo and were supplied with blankets but we didnt need to wear coats until later in the evening as the heaters kept the chill off. We all had the set menu which was fab value at £25 for two courses. The food was absolutely delicious, I had sticky chicken to start, beef pie for main and sticky toffee pudding for dessert - everything was excellent. The service was great, everyone friendly and quick with our requests. Emma the manager was also very nice and got us into our table earlier than we had booked at our late request. Cannot recommend enough.
