  Antiguo, mala calefaccion, muchas escaleras, mejorable

  Histórico hotel, con unos grandes salones. El acceso a las habitaciones es por escaleras (no hay ascensor para subir maletas). Al ser antiguo, con estructura de madera, el suelo de las habitaciones esta inclinado, son amplias, pero con déficits de mantenimiento. Servicio correcto, pero hay que pelear mucho las cosas: EN nuestra habitación no había secador, lo pedimos y nos dijeron que alguien se lo habría llevado (tuvimos que pedir prestado el suyo a otros huéspedes), a media tarde quitaron la calefacción, pedimos un radiador que si nos dejaron, tras discutir un rato. El restaurante correcto. El desayuno muy bueno. Para una noche, puede pasar, pero mejora buscar algo mas moderno

  Please dont waste your money

  Room was very very dated, apparently winston Churchill visited here once, dont think its been updated since. Carpets ripped and dirty, headboard stained and marked, room smelt bad and the bathroom was an insult, staff tried to help but didnt seem to bothered. When booked they gave us a 20% off food voucher but then wouldnt let us split the bill!! Dont bother wasting your money on this place its disgusting, waitresses were very nice though and food wasnt bad.

  Overnight stay

  Was a bit dubious having read the reviews so here goes Yes the rooms are a bit dated and could do with a bit of TLC.. however the room was spotlessly clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Tea and coffee and kettle in room with plenty of coffee sachets etc supplied. Had evening meal in the restaurant which was lovely and very good value... Also booked bed and breakfast.. breakfast of full English , with orange juice and coffee. Buy most of all would like to compliment the staff who were extremely helpful . Especially in these difficult times. Health and covid safety precautions are all in place and adhered to. Would definitely stay again... Excellent value for money.... Only thing I would like to see would have been a shower in the bathroom , or a shower attachment over the shower. Thanks for a nice stay and hope to see u again

  Not what was expected

  My husband, grandson and I decided on a night away as its half term, we booked this hotel through the Greeneking website. We were looking for a suitably old and quirky hotel with some history to it and going by the description and pictures advertising it, it seemed to fit the brief Unfortunately it did not live up to our expectations, although the bar area is very nice with crackling log fires and pleasant enough staff the hotel itself is about 30 years (I am being kind) beyond its last renovation date and it shows, but whilst that is a minor thing how filthy the hotel is in my opinion is the biggest problem The carpets are worn through and stained, skirting boards in our room were thick with dust, ditto the windowsills. In the bathroom there was mould on the ceiling, the toilet roll holder was coming away from the wall, and the shaving light above the mirror didnt work, the actual decor was non-existent, previous wallpaper removed and paint slapped over the remains, no head boards behind the beds, the only plus being that the beds were very comfortable but when we asked at reception for an extra pillow at 19.30 last night we were still waiting for it when we booked out this morning! I have taken some photos to show what I mean, if I were the manager of this establishment I would be on my staff all the time about the cleanliness of the hotel rooms, people shouldnt have to pay good money for a filthy room

  Long weekend away

  Had a lovely stay here, so convenient for visiting the area. The staff were so helpful and friendly and made our stay wonderful. The room was spacious and comfortable with a massive bed, I had the best night's sleep because it was so comfortable. It was so handy having a big car park right behind the hotel, so our car was pretty safe and it was free parking for hotel guests. The bathroom was basic but very clean, as was the room. Will definitely be staying here again when we visit the area.
