Five stars just for the viewA little expensive but worth every single penny. I had the steak and will say its one of the best I have ever had. They also sold Peronj which was just perfect. I didn't have desert but my other guests did and wow. This was the perfect last meal in the area. Did I mention the view!!!!! Would be hard to beat.

Foodie HeavenWe booked a last minute break at The Bay Horse based mainly on the food recommendations and were not disappointed. We were given a warm welcome from Lynne and her team. Breakfast was very good to set you up for the day and the evening meals where served up with beautiful home made bread with a variety of fillings we both had the Fillet Steak with pepper sauce which was excellent and the second night we where surprised to see a South African dish Bobotie which proved to be very enjoyable. Good walks where enjoyed around the bay. Ulverston was a 1.5 mile along the canal. Thanks for the nice stay at this difficult time.

Great food lovely viewsMy wife and I visited the Bay Horse Hotel at canal head on the 10th of October 2020 by chance for some dinner we hadn't booked, we were seated in the conservatory overlooking Morecambe bay which had great views the food was excellent I had a mushroom and cheese starter followed by crab and salmon fish cakes new potatoes and vegetables, the wife had Lamb shank which the meat just fell away off the bone she had chips which we think where doubled dipped and and very crispy and vegetables followed by profiteroles with chocolate sauce strawberries raspberries and blueberries she finished of with a Baileys Irish Coffee. May i say about the social distance was spot on everything was laid out right this place is well worth the visit the cost of our meal was £60 but was well worth it go on give it a try.

Booked for a weekend, wish it had been a weekBooked for a weekend, wish it had been a week. Received the warmest welcome on our arrival and were taken up to our room which had a view of the estuary. We stayed in Sandpiper, beautiful wallpaper and paintings, very comfy double bed, toasty bathroom and the view just made it for me. The terrace outside gives access to all of the estuary facing rooms and we sat out with a cuppa that afternoon watching the birds and tide. Quick tip - book direct (near the bottom of the home page on their website under the table booking) dogs are free then or give them a ring. Lesley had kindly phoned us to ask if we wanted a table for dinner before they got booked up. The hotel is genuinely dog friendly, they can be with you when eating and drinking in the bar area and you aren't asked to leave them alone in your room. It is such a comfy cosy area with the fire and your pal curled up with you (or hoping for leftovers in our case). The Conservatory Restaurant has wooden floors and a fantastic view over the estuary, the bar area is better for them because it is carpeted. Right - on to the food and Bob's amazing cooking. The menu is huge, the selection of meat, fish, vegetarian dishes and light bites leaves you spoilt for choice. Just want to mention there were at least 5 homemade vegetarian options on a separate menu. The first evening we went for the specials board and had seabass with local brown shrimp, the potato of the day and buttered vegetables. After deciding what to order you are offered different flavoured home baked bread rolls, they are almost like muffins. There is a swan theme to Bob's presentation and you will see why when you go for a wander. Local cheeses are accompanied by fruit and crumbly biscuits and the profiteroles almost leave you needing a lift upstairs to your room. Ice cream can be mediocre but Bob's is so creamy and smooth. Coffees and brandys by the fire are a perfect end to the night. Make sure you wake up just before sunrise to watch the sky, it is stunning even when you think the clouds won't let it through. Breakfast is superb, local sausages, bacon, white pudding, black pudding, fried bread, kidney, mushrooms or you can go for something lighter, I had fruit and eggs. Even the marmalade and lemon curd are homemade. We went to Ford Park and Hoad Monument to walk it off and had a drive to RSPB Leighton Moss. Made sure we got back in time for afternoon tea though and squeezed a scone in before dinner! I'm tempted to say the food was the highlight of this weekend but it wasn't just that. It was a combination of the friendliness, level of service, the views, selection of drinks, comfortable rooms, the wildlife and the hosts. We had a fantastic weekend and are going to make the Bay Horse an annual treat. Thank you.
