Top spot in WinghamThe Bank is an excellent choice if you are looking to stay around Taree. The rooms are lovely with 'old world' charm and our looked out over the Wingham's central park. The rate includes an excellent hot breakfast cooked for you (i.e not sitting around in bain maries) and staff were very friendly. Checking in is DIY if you arrive later in the evening, but instructions were clear and it was pretty straightforward. There is also plenty of parking on the street.

Never againAll started well. I agreed to the up front discounted price( that I did not ask for) for a twin bed room one night and a Cottage for 2 nights that had 2 beds. All rooms were advertised as having WIFI, Netflix, Fridge and Tea facilities and breakfast. I was told categorically I was not to access the other room linked to the twin room. Breakfast was excellent, cooked by the ever helpful Robin. The first night the twin room had no Netflix, fridge nor tea facilities. The WIFI code was not left. Night two in the cottage there was no WIFI, TV, Netflix nor a spare blanket. Night three there was WIFI and TV but no Netflix and the room had not been serviced (they left extra towels but did not tell me the room was not going to be serviced). The final morning we woke to no WIFI, hot water, air conditioning, TV nor Netflix. There is nobody in attendance at the BnB at night nor in the afternoon. A text with my complaints on the 3rd night was not answered by the manager but forwarded to the owner. The confirmation emails, promised when I booked and again promised when I arrived and complained, arrived on the 3rd night. If it had not been for Robin the entire 3 nights would have been a complete disasters. Despite the rooms never being as advertised, no further discount was given.

Clean comfortable pet friendlyThis was our second stay and we will be staying here anytime we are in the area. Our dog was very happy with the back yard area and air conditioning. The rooms are clean comfortable and have coffee and tea facilities. The garden room is very private and we were not bothered by anyone during our stay. They very thoughtfully have the aircon on before arrival so the room was lovely and cool. Bar fridge with essentials, tv, information on local places you might like to visit, park directly opposite if you want to walk your dog. They provided everything we needed. Would have been 5 stars but whilst the bed was not uncomfortable I am accustomed to a better quality of mattress so this was in my opinion the only place for improvement. Also breakfast is provided if you want it but as we didnt have breakfast on either of our stays I cannot tell you if it was good or not.

Old World Charm at The BankWe stayed at The Bank Guesthouse on our way north to Byron Bay taking the road less traveled. From the street where there is ample street parking, The Bank is an impressive building - a former Bank of New South Wales. Its in the same street as both the Pub and the RSL - both great for food and drink options. Across the street is a park where the local cricket team was playing! The Bank is walking distance to the local Coles and bottle shop. On entering the property youre taken back to a bygone era. The rear facing sitting room was like visiting my grandmas house with wonderful decor from times past. Due to COVID, check in was contactless and directed by text message - all very helpful and straightforward. Our room was upstairs and facing the street. Again, the decor suited the buildings era and was very homely. The room has all the essentials including tea, coffee, fridge, WiFi and a period-appropriate bathroom. The room also featured some antique furniture and a view to the street and park. The only area for improvement was the comfort of the bed - it would have been nice to have a pillow top mattress like other establishments in this class. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at The Bank.

It's in the detail! The Bank guest house is unique - all the charm of an old building with good old fashioned customer service thrown in. From the 2 Lindt chocolate balls in the fridge, to the filled decanter in the gorgeous living room, it's truly a unique experience. The breakfast that's included is delicious. I had the scrambled eggs with mushrooms and tomatoes on sour dough, with 2 coffees! All this on top of the fruit, yoghurt and cereal. If you want to spoil yourself- I recommend stay at the Bank Guesthouse. You won't be disappointed.
