  Lovely Stay

  We had booked the Ayre Hotel for 5 nights but due to a Covid 19 outbreak scare in Orkney we missed our first night as the hotel werent sure if they would have to close and we didnt want to risk travelling to the Island and not having anywhere to stay. Luckily they didnt have to close and we arrived the following day. The Hotel and Staff took the Covid 19 precautions very seriously. We didn't have any housekeeping but were able to ask for tea/coffee restock and change of towels etc at any time. We had our breakfast and 2 evening meals in the hotel and the food was lovely. The staff are very helpful, work hard and are a credit to the hotel. The hotel is in a great position in Kirkwall.

  Dinner out - eat out to help out

  Social distancing taken too far resulted in a distinct lack of atmosphere and comfort as we were seated in a utilitarian function room. Prompt friendly service but very average food reminiscent of the 1980s pub comfort food.

  Beautiful Hotel in a beautiful location

  One of the best family holidays we had!!. We booked a two bed apartment at the hotel and loved every minute of it. The staff were very helpful and conscious of the covid requirements. Hand sanitisers widely available and social distancing guidelines were being followed. The apratment was well furnished and with all the utensils if you felt the need to self cater, the hotel had excellent dining and bar facilities and we made good use of them.Definitely will be looking to come back

  A Great Find

  Small hotel and apartments close to the town centre. The room was tastefully decorated and exceeded our expectations. The room wa pacious with a Seperkinbed. The room was a tad too warm but otherwise very good. He communal areas of the hotel are little dated and I would hope that plans will include a refurbishment of these areas in the near future. Breakfasts were good and plentiful. Dinner was pod, maybe a little average. My other half was underwhelmed, my salmon a little overcooked. This hotel represented good value for money and we would come back again.

  Lovely hotel

  We stayed here from 21st to 28th Sept and found this to be a great place to base ourselves to explore Orkney. Our room was lovely and overlooking the harbour. It was spacious and pristine clean. The bed was huge and very comfortable and we slept very well. The wifi was free and worked well. The room was tastefully decorated and contained everything that added to out stay, such as toiletries and tea and coffee. The hotel complied rigorously with the covid guidelines and therefore daily housekeeping was not carried out. Anything that needed to be changed such as towels were left for you at your request. More supplies of tea coffee and toiletries were available from reception on request. The staff on reception were lovely, friendly and efficient. They gave us information on areas to visit when we asked where wlsw to visit. Ww jad breakfast everyday which was lovely and catered well for me being vegan. Soy milk was readily available too. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times too and found it to be lovely too. The staff were friendly and efficient and nothing was an inconvenience to them especially Isla. All in all we had a lovely stay here and I highly recommend the Ayre Hotel. We will be back soon.
