  Well impressed

  Well a quick google find, but we will be coming back. Squeezed us in at last min (Covid safe) Food was spot and good portions. If you want a great meal at a fair price, its worth a try!!! Deffo will be back!!

  Lovely food

  Booked in for tea as in the area . Good Covid measures .. one way system in place , greeted and shown to table . Staff helpful and attentive. Food arrived quickly, very generous portions and delicious . Definitely worth a visit.

  Particularly good for the price.

  Lots of positives for this pub. First the location. Its on a good bus route into Durham - walk a few minutes to the main road and get the bus at Shincliffe Station. Much better service than directly outside the pub. 10 minutes and you are in the city centre with no hassle about parking. Secondly, they have got the COVID-19 guidelines sorted really well. Next, our room - number 6 - was very good as long as you dont bash your head on the rafters. It is very large and has good furnishings and bathroom. Finally, breakfast was great. Lots of choice including smoked salmon and rump steak. Our evening meal was good pub food. They looked after us very well and for the price you would struggle to find better.

  Good value for money and amazing food!

  We had a lovely stay while visiting Durham. The hotel was clean and had everything we needed! The hosts were very accommodating. Good safety measures in place during pandemic too. It may be a little far to walk into town for some but we enjoyed it, its a lovely walk along the river. Our favourite part.... The variety and quality of food is superb!

  Brilliant place to stay just off A1

  Comfortable room with king size bed and en-suite with shower. Excellent response to COVID - spotlessly clean with contactless check in and out available. Lovely breakfast well cooked - best breakfast eating out we have had in ages. Excellent coffee. Staff very friendly and helpful - even coped well with a power cut while cooking breakfast. Would heartily recommend - hope to visit again some day.
