Bravo

    Superb property, epic location

Ive been staying at this property for almost a decade and remain a huge fan. Ive stayed at most luxury properties in Aspen (St Regis, Little Nell, Hotel Jerome, Viceroy Snowmass), but the Grand Hyatt remains my favorite. The building and rooms have fine finishings, tasteful mountain decor and are much larger than typical hotel rooms. The location is perfect, sandwiched between the Little Nell Residencies and the St Regis. Its just a couple blocks to the gondola at Ajax and a stones throw from all the shops and Resto in the core of Aspen. I always book via Tami Brown with LastHoorah Resort Destinations. This pandemic has been the most challenging of years for all travelers. Tami has gone above and beyond this year and I cant recommend her enough. I plan to continue to stay at this gem of a property and will continue to book with Tami. This review has been long overdue and Im glad to finally post it.

    Beyond Perfection

There is so much wonderfulness to recap, Ill summarize high points: people, location, kitchen, bathroom, living space, skiing and Aspen. People: First, Tami Brown with LastHoorah! Resort Destinations saved my holiday. I moved to the Hyatt Residence Club from the St. Regis to have a kitchen since Pitkin County closed restaurants for indoor dining. The apartment I rented didnt have one. I didnt notice. Tami did. And told me. And fixed it. She saved my trip. Second, the amenities go beyond any possible expectation. It is a chance to try out a marvelous gourmet kitchen, with All Clad pans (stainless steel and yet they wash as clean as my non-stick at home), Thermador and Viking appliances, every shape wine glass just to give you an idea about the attention to details. The bathroom is above category it has a huge jetted tub and a separate standalone steam shower. Plus heated floors around the toilet. Amazing. Beyond that, everything is magnificent. A baronial dining table, a eat in kitchen counter top with high chairs, TVs, fireplace, marvelous bed. Ive stayed 3x as long as first intended. And loved every minute. And I cant wait to bring my family to savor this perfection in vacation living next year. PS for those wondering about Aspen, yes there are less parties. Yes everything closes early. But the skiing cant be beat, lines are less than 5 minutes once you get on the mountain and you feel like the slopes are your own. An extraordinary luxury privilege and experience.

Covid 19 is not a excuse for poor service or no amentities

Just back from a trip to Aspen and my first time back on skis since the pandemic. I have been anxious to get back out west and booked a very last minute trip to Aspen. The following is an account of my stay and a un responded to letter written to the manager. I am a returning guest and Hyatt Discoverist member. I want to say that my expectations on so many levels were not met and I was extremely disappointed with my stay overall. While there are certainly bigger issues in the world I am extremely upset even after a day to think about it. It has been a trying year for all of us but we all deserve to get what we pay for, especially as a loyal Hyatt member. I called in advance to give you my arriving flight information and even know my flight was delayed I had to wait a additional 45 minutes to be picked up. I called after waiting 20 minutes and was told the driver was "in traffic" and would be there in 5 minutes. He was not. It was another 20 minutes. In addition, a family of 5 was yelling at the driver and he was making it uncomfortable for me to even be in the same van. He said he was promised "private" transportation and it was suggested I take a taxi. There was none there as it was busy and my stuff was already in the van but it was certainly uncomfortable. Upon arrival to the hotel, nobody helped me with my luggage and I had to take my skis and bag up myself. Not to mention the check in process was confusing to your employees and each seemed unorganized as I was originally given the wrong keys. While we are all well aware of the restrictions and protections that are put in place for everyone's safety some of the polices are absurd. There was not bottled water in the room or coffee? Really? I went to the lobby to speak to someone and I was only able to see the young ladies at the front desk but they assured me they would have both sent to my room. Neither happened for the entire duration of my stay. Also, there was not even a chair in the room. I was also told that a chair would be brought up. That also never happened. I had to go into the bathroom to put on or take off my shoes by sitting on the edge of the tub or toilet. Is this really the Hyatt way? I was thankful to get on Wednesday a very last minute room reservation, albeit a studio, but there is room for and should be a chair in that room. The Aspen Hyatt fell way short of my expectations. My room keys had to be remade several times during my stay as there was constant confusion with the women at the front desk. In fact, when I told them my keys were not working and gave them my last name they gave me new keys WITHOUT ASKING FOR AN ID. Something seemed wrong and I asked if in fact are they giving me the right keys and then offered my id and she said she saw the issue and made me yet another new set of keys. Those keys also did not work that night and a maid on my floor let me in. The next morning I went down to get new keys and another apology was given and the issue was sorted out. I asked her how long she worked there and she said two months and I explained to her as a world traveler she could be fired for a lapse in security like that. While you are not in NYC it is the principal and I am sure Hyatt policy to always check ID and it was very concerning. In addition a maid and a maintenance man let me in the room, 32A3 twice when my keys were not working without checking for an ID. Or even checking to see why they were not working. I was let into the room without questions. Not having breakfast or coffee in the lobby can possibly be explained as a safety issue but there are in fact alternatives to be put in place. You are getting all the money with half the service. Reservations for the hot tub? Open it or close it. Social distancing and masks work. Hyatt keeps sending out emails to come out and enjoy the world. Other than the skiing I did not enjoy anything at your hotel. I called to the concierge on Friday afternoon and they were too busy to talk and was told I would get a call back shortly. The return call came back 3 hours later with an apology but after I was leaving the restaurant. There is no excuse for that. A maid walked into my room during my stay as I was in the bathroom and that, by your policy, was strictly prohibited. I needed new towels and asked her to come back after 10 am as I was going to ski. She never came back or brought new towels. As I said I am a returning guest and I am beyond disappointed. No response from anyone at the hotel after two weeks.

    Great amenities and helpful stuff!

My stay at Hyatt this February was great! The hotel has a gym, heated pool and a hot tub. The stuff was very responsible and helpful with booking private rides to mountains. There is also a shuttle to all the ski mountains. Housekeeping did a very good job with cleaning, disinfecting and covid precautions. The location by the Aspen mountain is very convenient!
