  Super-convenient before sailing out of Jolly Harbour.

  I stayed here for one night from 10-11MAR2017 and highly recommend this place if you are sailing out of Jolly Harbour. The best supermarket I came across on Antigua is right across the street, so it makes provisioning a breeze. There are several bars and restaurants in and around the marina with some decent night life. The room was clean and large with good air-conditioning. Best of all was the staff. Not only did they keep our meats for the trip in their large kitchen freezer, but they let us check out really late after we learned our boat wouldn't be ready until the early evening. Such a nice staff and I would definitely stay here again if sailing out of Jolly Harbour.

  Cheap for Antigua,but basic

  We didn't receive the room that we booked,but a replacement with no kitchen or balcony (as requested & paid). There were maintenance works during the day so it was quite noisy (from 8 to 17/18). On the last day,we had to leave before 8 so we didn't receive any breakfast because it was to early. Overall,cheap, but not ideal for an anniversary vacation. On the other side, we were informed before that our room was double booked and offered free breakfast. After a few discussions they included a free pickup taxi service (although no room discount considering we didn't receive the room requested & paid). The lady that we exchanged emails with was nice, but apart from that there were not too many people around (no reception area).

  Never even got to check in!

  We arrived at Jolly castle hotel after a long flight just before Christmas to find nobody and the place looking in bad shape. Light fittings all taken down no light bulbs appart from one hanging neon. Sand/dust everywhere. Yes, a hurricane had come through a few months before but you can't take bookings when the property is in such a bad state! A boy walking past was very surprised that we were checking in and disappeared to find owner. He came back 15 mins later to say he couldnt find them, they had gone to St-John's. He offered to put our bags in a tiny dirty room and wait. I gave him my other halfs number and said to call us if owner turned up within the hour. They didn't and we found somewhere else to stay. We never even got a phone call back!

  Adequate accommodation near amenities

  Basic but clean room but without facilities such as kettle , cooking facility, crockery, etc. Steps to access room are steep & numerous which is tricky with large bags. Supermarket & restaurants nearby.

  Revamped Castle

  We visited the castle during our holidays in july 2016, it seemed to have been renovated recently although we stayed in a town house in Jolly Harbour we visited the Castle often as it had a shop and restaurant on it lower floors I think it was called Josephs and is run by local business people. We also asked permission to view a room for a future visit and was given a tour of the castle and an unoccupied room which was clean and a good size awith amenities to keep you comfortable the view from the upper floors over the harbour was stunning. Good night entertainment with kariokee in nice bar/restaurant area friendly people made you feel welcome all in all prices reasonable and a nice place to stay. You also can use the other amenities of Jolly Harbour which has a swimming pool with restaurant, golf, Epicurium supermarket with Waitrose products, Pharmacy, Internet cafe, toilets, showers and a few more useful outlets.
