A great find2 mins from Angel tube. The apartments are better than the photos. Really good quality fixtures and spotlessly clean. Bed was really comfy and the room was a really good size. Staff were welcoming. Definitely recommended...

Nice stay for 3 daysWe stayed in a studio which has a round windows. The good thing is we can see Sunday market from an upper level. We like the kitchen, there are dishwasher, stove and oven; the staffs are very friendly. (The reception is in the pub, there are many choices of beers and liquors. No food is provided, but its allowed to bring your food and order drinks there). During the time we stayed, there was a day with 32c. Only one fan in the room, a bit hot. For the rest, everythings are good.

Basic, no air conditioningPros: 1. Well located in Angel. Close access to trains and buses. Lots of nice restaurants nearby. 2. Has a small kitchen with cups/plates/cooking stuff Cons: 1. Super hot and only has a fan - I was there in Summer and in the highest room (number 5), was very hot and stuffy and had to sleep with the windows all open but was loud outside from the street noise 2. Shower sink was full of hair on arrival (maybe like two handfulls!) 3. Check in was in the bar. Staff member was very uninterested and not friendly. It was fine but probably next time I'd prefer to stay somewhere better for this price

Great location and good clean roomsWe stayed here recently with a group of friends as attending a wedding locally. Friendly reception when we checked in at the pub, the rooms were spacious and clean with the added bonus of kitchen facilities. A great location for trains with lots of choice of bars and restaurants within walking distance - would stay again as a great price for the facilities on offer.

Spent a night locked outside, owner blames use and my partner traveled to London for a Music festival at the Elektrowerkz club, which is a couple of minutes walk away - that was the reason we looked for a hotel in this area. We chose The Alma Rooms after seeing it's very high review rank, what could go wrong? We knew in advance there is no 24/7 reception - been there, no big deal for us, after all, we do have a phone... Apparently, there is a reception available inside the Alma Pub, which has the same owner as the rooms. After making our booking, we received an automated message from the hotel informing us that the reception (at the pub) is open until 23:00, if we arrive later, there is a number we can call. Ok then. We arrived at the pub at the last minute, only to see it remains open (together with reception) until midnight. Since we did not expect that, we were in such a hurry, we did'nt even buy a meal on the way, after arriving on a flight. We received one key card (even though a couple usualy gets two keys) and went to our room together with the reception worker. The room was large and nice enough... except for one problem: the fire alarm was making a very loud noise every couple of minutes. It wasn't sounding the alarm, only a very loud "beep" every couple of minutes. It was obviously impossible to sleep in these conditions. We decided to contact reception. Since was past closure of the pub and reception in it, we knew there is a phone number for contact during night hours. We went downstairs to have a look on the sign at the main door, which had all the phone numbers. We called the night time number - it went straight to voicemail, as if the phone is turned off. This happened several times. There were several ladies from the room across who just were leaving their room, so we asked them to use their phone - got the same result, went straight to voicemail. By this time, we discovered we have forgotten the single key card inside, and were locked outside the room. I had only my phone and no wallet, and was wearing slippers. My partner luckily had his phone, wallet and passport, and his boots on, but was wearing only a t shirt. First, we sent a message to the hotel through Booking.co, thinking someone os reading the mails. There was no answer. We had no choice but to venture outside to the cold, to look for a room at another hotel. We first went to Doubletree by Hilton Islington. They had no rooms available, but the receptionist agreed to try to call the night time phone number of the Alma Rooms - result was the same, straight to voicemail. We then went, (with only slippers for me and a tshirt for my partner, I remind you) to the nearest Premier Inn, which had no rooms as well, then to Angel Hilton, with the same result - it was Halloween weekend, so no available rooms. The receptionst at the Angel Hilton was very helpful in spite of that, and first tried several times to call the Alma Rooms' night phone - all with the same result: straight to voicemail, as if the phone is turned off. She was helpful enought to try and find a hotel with an available room for us. She finaly found a room at the Premier Inn London Farringdon (Smithfield), and called for a taxi for us to go there. We arrived there after 2am, paid in advance, and had to wear the same clothes on the next day, having left almost all of our belongings at the Alma Rooms. The lady at this hotel's reception also tried to call the night number for us... with the same result - voicemail. Moreover, my partner wore contact lenses, had to take them off for the night, and was virtua;;y blind in the morning, without his glasses, which were left there as well. On the morning we took a taxi back, and finaly managed to speak in person with the receptionist. We told him the entire story, and he told us 1) He sees no email messages 2) there were no incoming phone calls and 3)he doesn't know who has the night phone! And, that the owner should arrive and check our room - to see if we were tampering with the fire alarm! We waited for more than an hour, then went back to the reception at the pub, to ask when the owner is going to arrive. He then told us a different story - that the owner doesn't live in London, he's off on weekends and is not going to arrive... But he's going to upgrade our room. We were moved to a different room, where, luckily, the fire alarm did not make any noise. The "upgrade" consisted of having a bath tub. We immediately reported the entire incident to Booking.com, demanding at least a refund for the first night. Shorty, our claim was rejected, for the following reasons: the owner claimed that 1) We did not call the night number at all (a lie that is easily disproved by our phone company records, as well as receptionists at various hotels who called the same number); 2) We tampered with the fire alarm! (another lie + both of us don't smoke, something that can be attested by anyonewho knows us) ; 3) He upgraded our room for free... The 3rd claim is illogical, why would he give us an "upgrade" after blaming us for tampering with his equipment?? All in all, the story could have been a liittle less bad, if only the mistake of having the night phone lost and turned off was addmitted, and, for the very least, the sum we paid for the first night was returned to us. After all, we did not use the room on this night, AND paid for another hotel and two taxis. (not to mention walking in the cold at night with minimal clothing). In summary, the behaviour on the owners' side was unprofessional, to say the least, deceptive and shady. Too bad, for we would have given a very good review ahd this story not taken place.
