*WARNING*HANDS-DOWN THE WORST ROOM I HAVE STAYED INWe arrived around 1900 and entered the premises to find a very young mousy-blonde girl-hair tied in a low ponytail behind the bar who just ignored us to begin with. We were then made to pay the full price of the room £170 without even viewing the room. We were then taken to the family room but we were not showed around-she left us to it. The room was disgusting. We now know why they made us pay before we saw the room. The carpets were completely stained and disgusting-they looked like they belonged in a drug den or had been part of one. I honestly wouldn't let my dog sleep there. The beds had no mattress covers and the sheets didnt even reach the ends of the beds. The sofa cushions were pillows stuffed into pillow cases. We found black hairs on the sheets and hairs in the bathroom. There were no mirrors other than the one in the bathroom and the sink was dirty. Behind the desk they had shoved an old shower guard and its corresponding plastic! The door handle was coming off of its hinges-the room was pretty bare. They left shampoo and soap for one-not a family as they so advertised! We went down to the bar and approached the blonde girl in a calm and collective manner, she told us she was one of the managers and that there was nothing she could do as we had already paid and we couldnt cancel or get a part refund. She conned us and proceeded with a smug stance. She then told us that she is aware of the condition of the room and that they have had many bad reviews before! We asked for mattress toppers and she said she couldnt do anything. We attempted to find another place to stay but she told us that we would have to stay, we had no choice! This room is not for letting as a hotel room or guesthouse it simply does not make the cut in the slightest. The standard of this room is piss poor and no one should have to put up with that! The mousy-blonde barmaid had no intention of helping us and her customer service skills were appalling! I will Never be returning here again and this experience completely ruined mine and my mothers trip to watch my sisters graduation. DO NOT STAY IN THIS SO CALLED HOTEL it is simply disgusting and a huge con! Be Warned!!

We will be back soon !My family and I had a wonderful stay here as we were in Guildford for some celebrations. The location is very ideal and we were welcomed by the 2 ladies behind the bar who made us feel relaxed almost immediately. We found the room standard and pleasant with very comfy beds! Having tried out the bar downstairs, on our next trip we will be sure to try the food, from what we saw it looks great.

Good value for moneyWe stayed along our way along the North Downs Way. We simply needed value for money for 1 night, and thats what we got. The rooms were simply furnished, but clean and quiet. The mattress and bedding were hotel quality so we got a good nights sleep. The lady in the pub was friendly, all in, it served a purpose. Would recommend for a one night budget stay.

For youngsters only (students everywhere). Noise, noise & more noiseWe were all young once but this building is simply not good for a good nights sleep. The 2 x front rooms are on the busy road and cars pass continually. It also hosts the wooden outside tables of the pub where people smoke, talk, laugh & shout until the early hours of the morning which means "no sleep". Even the 2 back rooms over look a pub garden area where people still go for a cigarette & talk until the early hours. It still has cutlery and a condiments box left on a few tables that are now over run with autumn leaves, and I guess will remain there until the summer next year. Not a nice view or impression. Our bathroom was over run with black mould and the drains initially stunk (until we had used the shower and taps a few times). We did inform the bar lady and the manager did ask if we wanted to move but as already stated, the noise from traffic meant no way, so we stayed where we was (we had already paid for 3 nights). Nothing was done about the mould, not even cleaned. The reason why I titled this review "For youngsters only", was because the adjoining pub is full of students and young people. The entrance to the accomodation is a door outside the pub where they sit and smoke and laugh and shout. There is "NO" security whatsoever. If one of them rents a room, then they can all use that room for the toilet or whatever. On our first night we did not get to sleep until after 2.0 in the morning. The doors must have slammed and closed over 200 times, it was ridiculous. Then at 6.10 in the morning, somebody must have been locked out because 20 massive thumps on the door, just woke everybody. It was horrendous. I will state that the next evening we did complain (because there is nobody on site until the pub opens at 11.0 or 12.0 lunchtime) about the noise and we did get a refund for that night. We only stayed here because it is close to town and amenities but the noise...... The wi-fi is almost non-existent and very hit and miss. In 3 days I had wi-fi possibly 10% of the time. The TV is tiny and the aerial is just a wire that you have to position exactly otherwise you get no reception or a fuzzy picture... Would I stay in this hotel ever again or recommend it to anybody? No!! Forget it. NEVER AGAIN...

Fantastic food!!From the moment I walked in it was a wonderful experience. Abhi, the owner, is a wonderful host...nothing is too much trouble. And the food - well, what can I say, other than FANTASTIC! I had the lamb and pork duo roast and it was delicious... I also had the most scrumptious halloumi fries. If you're looking for a tasty roast and friendly service, then the Albany is the place to go :)
