A health farm for the old!

We stayed one night and arrived at 2 pm and after trying for quite a while to find a parking place (not very easy as there were cars parked all over the place - there did not seem to be any proper allocated parking places). The checking in was a little confusing as we had booked and confirmed it using our holiday plus membership but we were eventually allocated room 221. The room was very large with a big comfortable double bed and an additional single bed. The TV was the old type and there was a problem with the colour, a strange hue varying from pink to green, BBC World, CNN news and MTV in English. The bathroom was large with some new modern fittings except for the bath which was a bit worn and the plug was missing so only able to use the shower. The hotel room overlooked a service area, but it was air conditioned. The large quite ugly looking hotel obviously has few English speaking guests as most staff spoke little English although they were all reasonably friendly. The reception area was large and there was an Internet terminal as well as Wi-Fi access in the rooms, but we could not see any information as to prices or how to access. There was a large bar and a sitting area but we were unable to get a snack or lunch when we arrived at the hotel, the receptionist pointed us over to the Best Western Delle Rose hotel which had a cafe with a limited menu. We could also use the facilities of this hotel which included 2 swimming pools for 16 each per day. These two hotels shared one complex and facilities in a large park with health walk trails and cycle paths. The Delle Rose hotel was definitely much better! There were fitness and health packages in both hotels as well as a rehabilitation and diagnostic centre, hence the coach parties of old people obviously taking the thermal and rehabilitation treatments. There were also many conference rooms and large open plan sitting areas. The small very clean town seems to revolve around the thermal spa, but we did see a couple of bars and restaurants. As our deal involved using the hotel catering facilities we ate evening dinner served from 19:30 in the enormous restaurant. This was a very strange setup; the restaurant only served a 3 course set menu from 19:30 to 20:15 quite an achievement for the staff to get over 100 diners fed and watered! We also discovered lunch was the same 45 minutes time slot which finished at 13:15 hence no food available on our arrival. The food was ok pasta or soup starter with a meat main and a choice of pudding. By 20:20 the staff began turning the lights off and we were pointed to the bar to get a coffee. The cavernous bar seated over 100 and was empty until 21:30 when lots of couples arrived for the evening ballroom dancing. This was a joy to watch and the waitress kept us supplied with some very nice and reasonably priced wine until 22:30 when we retired to bed. Breakfast was a limited buffet of croissants and ham and cheese surrounded by all the pensioners in their dressing gowns waiting for their treatments to begin. A very different health farm for old age pensioners but not an unpleasant stay.

    It could be better

The room was clean and nice, the pool was so crowded by old people, the receptionist is not so helpful, the food is less than normal, they didn't explain us how to use the spa functions, there is no towels so you have to pay 6, there is no service at the night shift (food or water), there are a lot of lounges which is nice, the outdoor landscape is pretty cool, it was good but it could be better.
