Far from the madding crowd...My wife and I have recently been on a one month Iberian road trip in a small camper van, and one of the places that we wanted to vit was Figueira da Foz. We'd had little luck in finding an open, major campsite in the area, but by chance we found a minor reference to Termas da Azenha on the internet. So, that's where we headed. With the intention of parking our van there for a night or two, we were greeted by the delightful Dutch owner, Ellen, who told me that a pitch for the night would be 18. There was nobody else camping there, nor was anyone staying in the nearly chalet-style lets. As these chalets were only 30 per night we decided to opt for this, to take advantage of more space and a decent bed/bathroom. What a good move that was - the location, tranquility, and closeness to nature was wonderful...not to mention the many and varied pieces of mosaic artwork on-site that Ellen had carefully crafted. The location itself was handy for access to the coast that we wanted to visit, and we ended up spending a second night there because it was so peaceful and restful. If you're looking for all the whistles and bells that a fully-serviced facility might provide, then Termas da Azenha isn't for you. However, if you're looking for soemwhere close to nature where nobody will bother you as you sip your wine and watch the sunset across the fields, then this is recommended. We loved it! One note of caution: it certainly wasn't an easy place to find, mainly due to the general lack of signposts in Portugal, so for anyone looking to find this little gem I would recommend setting your satnav for the nearby Hotel Termas/Palace Hotel Spa, and then Termas da Azenha can be found a couple of hundered metres before there.

WHAT A PLACE! :)Termas da Azenha is a very peaceful and magical place! It is COVERED with mosaïc and you will always be surprised with a new beautiful discovery! :) It is very comfortable and full of warmth and good vibe! Ellen is extremely welcoming and hilarious, do NOT hesitate to take the mosaïc workshop! It will change your life! ;) And don't miss the chance to try out her food, either! It's absolutely de-li-ci-ous! Just two little fair mentions! Expect a few mosquitos, since the village is located in the contryside (gorgeous landscapes with many rice fields around and lots of fruits to pick! :) ) And know that it's a bit secluded from the rest of the village, you will need a car to explore better! (But with one, everything is pretty accessible! :) AND beautiful! :) )

Magical place for a calm retreatI was looking for a quiet and calm place close to nature and in Thermas da Azenha, I found not only that but also a place filled with love and art work. New mosaics to discover every day with beautiful scenery. There are plenty of nice places to go for a walk or just watch the storks feeding on the rice fields with the colors of the sunset. My room was spacious, clean and also a piece of art with its mosaics and paintings. Figueira de Foz and Coimbra are in easy distance, both places have very nice and peaceful energies although I visited them late November so it could be busier during the summer. There are little villages around for food shopping. The only difficult part was is to find this village as there is a place called Azenha and my map was not indicating Termas da Azenha. But it is worth to ask people around and try to find this peaceful village.

Beautiful campsite in a really unique locationWe had a wonderful couple of days here camping out looking over the fields. The ancient spa is quite amazing and the girls loved the dressing up room and the pool. Highly recommended if you are looking for a friendly unique camping experience. If you want a massive place with waterslides this probably isn't for you.
