  A unique Venetian retreat

  If you are looking for a restful and peaceful get away from it all, this is the place. It is an amazing historic family country home.which includes visits by Byron! It has been in the same family for over 200 years and you can see their love and devotion for their home everywhere. It is set in own extensive grounds next to the River Po with wonderful cycling, walking and horse riding. I loved the relaxed,cosy feel of the house which is overflowing with interesting antiques and memorabilia that create this unique country home. The owners are the most charming hosts you will find anywhere and will definitely make you feel very welcome. . The food and bedrooms are all to a high standard.   Charming estate

  Beautifull mension in picturesque delta Po is worth to stay in. The old villa lies a short drive from town and the easiest acces is via small road, which runs atop of the river bank. Suorunded by lawns and trees is a small haven if you like peace and quiet. And if you like old rustic look of the interior with original furniture. It is like stepping in a living museum. The owners and personnel are very kind and can halp you organize different excursions in the delta from ciclyng, boat tour with fishermens, finding a good restaurant or going on a wine tour... If orderd in advance they even prepre dinner. My room with two single beds was spacious- surprisingly cold even during hot late spring days. The same goes for the bathroom. I liked shampoo and body cream, which are produced in the region with local herbs. Wi-fi worked well. There is an inviting swimming pool just a few steps from the house very handy in hot days. There is also a small chapel on the property so a realy romantic place to organize a wedding or just a party.

  A very special place

  We spent three very special nights at Ca Zen. As soon as we arrived and stepped out of the car we could hear nightingales singing from the bushes, scops owls calling from the trees and there were fireflies floating across the gardens. The house is beautiful and holds a lot of history, with a small chapel, cottage and stables within the grounds. We felt at home straight away after the super friendly welcome from Maria Adelaide and we would quite happily have stayed at Ca Zen for a lot longer than our 3 nights. The breakfasts were continental, with bread and croissants, eggs, cold meats, cake, biscuits and fruit. Being vegan they even very kindly made some special and delicious breakfast biscuits for us. Maria Adelaide had recommended a local guide and we spent two half days with him seeing the sights and delights of the Po Delta. On the first day we went on an amazing boat trip through the reedbeds and lagoons, stopping off on a deserted, driftwood-strewn beach. We spent the second day visiting the botanic gardens at Rosolina Mare and then explored the Delta on bikes. The wildlife was incredible, I work for the RSPB and so seeing flamingos, purple herons, cattle egrets, night herons, golden orioles, pygmy cormorants, great reed warblers, slender-billed gulls, bee eaters, black-winged stilts, Montagus harriers etc... highlighted the fact that this part of Italy is a birdwatchers paradise. The Po Delta is full of history, wildlife and delicious food and to cap it all off, staying at Ca Zen made the whole experience unforgettable. We will definitely be going back.

  Legends and history

  It is an amazing historic family country home with a lot of history and stories such as one with Lord Byron and his mistress who lived there. We were only for very good dinner but I would like to come and stay there.

  Peace and quiet

  Situated in the middle of nowhere with the River Po flowing nearby. This is an ideal place to explore the Po Delta, either cycling or boat trips. This beautiful mansion has been completely renovated with lovely large rooms with antique furniture but all the amenities of a modern hotel. The ground floor is for relaxation and you can spend time looking around or just reading a book in the library. It was like living in a family museum. The lady of the house who is original Anglo Irish is very jolly and has quite a few tales to tell. In the evening you can relax in the beautiful gardens with a glass of their own wine. There are also stables and swimming pool which was great on a hot day. This is a place to lay back and enjoy.
