  Sometimes things really are as good as they sound

  We have just arrived home from a perfect long weekend spent a Te Mata lodge. With the very reasonable price of the cabin for our family of 5 I cant say that we were expecting a lot. Im pleased to say Ive never been more happy to be wrong ! The lodge is nestled in the middle of the bush with a real sense of tranquility but still close enough to the main road and beaches. We spent a good deal of our time enjoying the amenities the lodge provides at no extra cost. Kayaking in the swimming whole right next to the property. A great playground area and many out door games. Cricket, badminton etc. bbqs and little picnic areas are doted around the property. There are bush walks you can take and a track to view glow worms at night. The hosts I could not fault. Very welcoming and extremely helpful. At one point over the weekend the hot water stopped working for a few hours but they happily invited guests to use the showers in the main house until the problem was fixed. We are already hoping to plan a return trip in January. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for accommodation in the area.

  Great swimming

  Lovely trip to Te Maya lodge, swimming in river was great and kitchen and bbq were perfect for group cooking. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend a few days here. Thanks guys!

  Great value for families

  We based ourself in one of the cabins for a week. The cabins were basic but had a fridge and TV/DVD player. DVDs were available, free of charge from reception. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and cutlery. The shower and toilet block was fine too. Outdoor BBQs and seating as well as a large grassed area. Located on the river, there is a swim hole, life jackets and kayaks. A bush walk and other waterhole also available. We traveled across the Coromandel from here. From Whitianga through to Coromandel Town, Taurua and Thames. The hosts were hopeful and friendly. This was a great alternative to camping for us. Recommend.

  Nice family getaway

  We really enjoyed our three night stay here. The chalets were cosy and equipped with everything we needed. Hosts were friendly and welcoming and very accomadating. Good selection of free dvds to wind down in the evening. Beds were very comfy! Will definitely be back in the future!

  What a special place to relax!

  Myself, best friend and her two children all had a fabulous time at Te Mata lodge. The owners were friendly and welcoming, they helped us with a few requests. The cabin was tidy, had everything we needed. Loved the use of BBQs to cook on. The highlight was the swimming hole and the children loved playing in the playground. Highly recommend a stay here!
