One night stay before Alpine Routehttp://www.tatekoku.com.e.aafx.hpf.transer.com/guestroom/#plan01 Stayed for one night on 14 May 2015 with a group of 26 people. The hotel is large and comprised of main and annex buildings. Hotel staff were friendly and nice. We were given hotel map and guidance in English. We had bento-set dinner in the Shiki Restaurant -- delicious soup and sweets! Breakfast was served in the same restaurant with Japanese and Western buffet menu available. Breakfast available from 5.30 to 9 a.m. Our room (number 359 - Western-style twin room in the corner with balcony facing the mountain and the road, 26 square meter) is located in the Annex building with quite a long corridor walk from the lobby, but actually the lift is not far from the restaurant. Room was clean, good lightning to read, small and low ceiling bathroom -- small bathup . No heater in the room, so we just turned-off the AC when it gets too cold. Extra blanket is available in the cabinet. Free WiFi in the room, quite fast and stable. Room was quiet, nice mountain view in the morning. However, we can hear the noise from the car passing by on the road. Higher floor would have been nicer. Lift in the Annex building was small, hotel shop was small. Overall, I enjoyed my stay in this hotel before going to the Alpine Route. The hotel is located near the Tateyama Train Station (about 7 minutes drive).

Unfailed Japanese ServiceI visited Tateyama last week for the Tateyama-Kurobe Apline Route to taste some summer snow. My party of five landed at Chubu International Airport at 3:40 pm and collected our rental car ready to set off to Tateyama Kokusai Hotel by 4:30 pm. Our plan was to drive direct to the Hotel on the same day so that we can set off early for the Route in the early morning on the next day. The journey from Chubu Airport to Tateyama was about 310 km and i expected to arrive at the Hotel by around 8:15 pm. Knowing that onsen hotel, which Kokusai is one of the more modern one, served dinner early, I gave early notice to the Hotel of our late arrival and enquired if they could arrange to serve dinner for our party at 8:45 pm. As we took a brief stop at one of the service stations to answer the call of nature, we only arrived at the Hotel at 8:50 pm. This was not helped that there was rain in the latter part of the car journey. A hotel staff was waiting for us at the front entrance when we pulled our vehicle up. He quickly escorted us up to the front desk to complete q quick check in. We were then told that dinner was waiting for us at the restaurant. When we walked to our table, we were the only guests and our table was already laid out with food, japanese style. Mind you, they were all steamng hot. Our party was truly pleased to be confronted with such reception. I believe the hotel staff, especially the restaurant staff worked over time to accommodate the late arrival of our party. As for the hotel itself, it is sizeable and meet every criteria of a quality Japanese hotel, clean and well-appointed. Our twin-bed room is big, in particular, having added an extra bed for my aged mother, we still have room to move around with a long sofa in the room. The bathroom is of typical Japanese size, namely, small but it serves the purpose. The hotel also offers free wi-fi. I did not have a chance to go to see the onsen, which is on the 2/F of the hotel. For hotel guests, the onsen is opened until midnight and reopens at 5 am on the next day. For breakfast, it was in buffet style, mixing Japanese cusisine with western choices. The location of the hotel is most convenient for access to the Tateyama Train Station, which is less than 10 min away in the car. I was also told that the Hotel provides shuttle to ferry guests to the Station free. All in all, this is a lovely hotel set in beautiful country side and which provides you with all modern utilties. Last but not least, they provide Japanese hospitality as one would expect. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

On my way to tateyama kurobe Alpine routeI have planned my above itinerary into 3 parts so that it is less tiring for a single lady to go through the entire Alpine route. Starting my trip from Tokyo to Toyama, I then took another local train via dentesu-toyama & did a stopover at Tateyama. Upon reaching Tateyama station, most people will continue their Alpine route journey via the cable car, for those of you who intend to plan stopovers like me, you will need to contact the hotel for personal pickup from the station. The hotel is approximately 10mins away from Tateyama station. The hotel has an indoor onsen with a view. Also remember to book your hotel that comes with dinner & breakfast as the hotel does not have neighborhood restaurants nor stores. Overall it's a quiet environment, my room is so big that I think it can take up to 4-6 pax. The hotel does offer shuttle bus service to Tateyama station in the morning which you can take to continue your Alpine route journey.

nothing much to complain as it was a mere overnight stay else characterless excepting for a great onsenWe stayed overnight at this functional hotel before commencing the Murodo alpine trail next morning. There was nothing to complain about the hotel but at the same nothing to write home about excepting for the onsen where you could smell the sulphur and it was deeply invigorating and relaxing. The hotel has a very convenient Toyama station free pickup service twice a day and which is very convenient.

Good onson hotelVery good onson hotel. Stayed four nights. Excellent food. Free WiFi through hotel. There is a free bus to the station but if you have a car and out of season you might as well drive down yourself. Parking is free both at the hotel and in town if accessing the Alpine Route on day trips which is what we were doing rather than the traditional up and over. We had a Western / Japanese room with a tatmi mat. Best of both worlds although if too old for sitting on the floor making use of this area is tricky.
