    Maravilloso, Altamente recomendable!!

    Home away from home

We just felt so comfortable from the first minute of walking in. The view from the huge windows in the family/dining room kept drawing my attention. The constantly changing light was fascinating. We were in room 4, and were very cozy, and felt like we were the only ones there. Bring your own slippers for that feel right at home sense, after you leave your boots in the front hall. Room tip - stay in the main lodge during winter, so you don't have to venture out in the cold first thing in the morning for breakfast, from a cabin. Kory has very wisely lined up with Paws for Adventure, making it very easy to go on a dog sledding trip. They head out just about a mile away from the lodge. His Aurora Pointe business for aurora viewing is top notch! It's about 0.5 miles away as the crow flies. As a lodge guest, you are welcome to take advantage of the amenities there (inside warmth, hot chocolate, coffee, fresh baked cookies from Debbie and a big screen allowing you to see when the aurora becomes active, so can stay warm until bolting for the show outside). The breakfast served is fresh and fantastic, and quite filling, as well as nicely scheduled at 0900, for all the night owls who were aurora chasing. They offer snowshoes for you to explore the many acres of land surrounding the lodge. It's about 20 minutes or so to drive into town for dinner and check out other activities around. Yes, it's pricey, but so worth it for the convenience if you're into the aurora.

A great place to see and do it all!

We stayed one week in Spruce House and had an outstanding time! Kory and his mother were so friendly and accomodating, that we felt right at home and definitely plan to return. Every activity we did was one of Kory's recommendations and each one was a winner. The house was very comfortable for the four of us and the property is absolutely beautiful. Whether you want to just relax or have a great adventure, this could be the place.

    Trip of a lifetime!

cant say enough good things about Taste of Alaska! Debbie, Kory and Lily are so welcoming, they make you feel like family! The rooms are very clean and comfortable! REAL coffee is available in your room, and a delicious breakfast is served by Debbie and Lily every morning in the lodge! The grounds are breathtaking, and they have trails for walking and snowshoes for borrowing! Aurora Point is about a half mile by car, less by foot if youre brave, and is available for all night Aurora watching, from the convenience of a brand new - warm! - and beautiful building where Kory gives you the full scoop on the Aurora and also tells you when to head outside to get a glimpse (if your lucky!). Kory also takes amazing pictures and shares them with the group! Its not a far drive from the hot springs, about an hour, and Taste of Alaska will give you towels for taking so you dont have to rent, just make sure to tell them in advance. If your not sure what to do, or where to go, or where to eat, just ask, theyve got great recommendations - we havent had a bad meal in Alaska - from fine food to feeling like a local! Like I said, I have nothing but great things to say, and I will be back! I wouldnt stay any other place!

The best place to stay in and around Fairbanks

We cannot say enough good things about A Taste of Alaska Lodge. Going on our first trip to Alaska, we were a little nervous to be so far from home, but as soon as we walked into the lodge we were welcomed in and felt right at home. We stayed in the main lodge where each room has its own private entrance through doors that look out over the amazing fields, flats, and mountains of Alaska. The rooms were warm and cozy even when it was -20 outside with comfortable beds and amazing antiques. Breakfast every morning was delicious with blueberry pancakes, eggs, bacon, and more. Each morning Lily and Debbie provided great tips and recommendations for our day ahead tailored to our interests. Kory taught use how to build a snow hut on a snowy day and Dave ran a snow mobile along all their paths so we could use the snow shoes they have available to explore their amazing land. An added bonus was the owner's Aurora viewing lodge called Aurora Pointe were we could warm up with refreshments and games in between stepping right outside to view the lights. You can also view the lights right from the lodge doors. The lodge and Aurora pointe are probably the best place to view the lights within 30 minutes of downtown Fairbanks. Kory (the owner) also gives lodge guests a call to let you know when they are out as well! The locations is so close to town it was easy to dip in and out for food and adventures while also providing enough distance for an escape and dark skies perfect for aurora viewing. 10/10 for food, rooms, adventures on the property, and true kindness from the owners. We will be recommending them to all our family and friends and hope to be lucky enough to go back some day. Great for anything from relaxing to adventure, there isn't a better place to stay.
