Superb Location and staffThis was our first stay in a mixed Gambia/Senegal trip. We found the staff very friendly and helpful, and the food was good, although limited choice. The hotel access the beach via steps, a strip of scrub and sand dunes, and is wonderful for viewing birdlife Unfortunately the lodge is in need of serious injection of funds for its maintenance.

Amazing tranquility and beautyWow. This was the most amazing place I have stayed in years. Located in the beautiful and secluded Tanji Bird Reserve, the ecolodge is just steps away from a lovely beach and stunning lagoon perfect for wiling away the hours bird watching. And the staff are so friendly and took great care of me the whole stay. They catered to my every need. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Expect the unexpectedThe accommodation is set in the bush which in itself is beautiful. The view of the beach from the terrace is wonderful. Access to the beach is literally a few minutes walk. The plastic that is washed up on the beach however, is alarming. I rescued several trapped creatures whilst there and saw a turtle that had also met its demise. The monkeys are a joy to behold but really could do with a feeding station. The accommodation is very basic which is fine and expected. Anything that broke was fixed by the lovely Omar. The staff are friendly but really need direction in how to manage a business. Food was hit and miss and sometimes non existent as was water!! Best to take a supply of tea/coffee/water. There were birds around the lodge but the pools were empty bar one stagnant pool. I feel there could have been ideas put into place that would be quick wins but there was a lack of motivation and creativity from the manager sadly. If like me youve been visiting The Gambia for many years then you know to expect the unexpected so dont let my review deter you. It is a beautiful place.

I love this placeIf you want beautiful views, two minutes from the sea in a relaxed eco-friendly atmosphere, then this is the place for you.Located in a bird watching forest, the rooma are in attracive semi-detached domed brick buildings, echoing Gambian village life. I would describe them as good basic. The rooms are named after birds and have a picture of that bird in the room. I slept well in a firm bed with an optional mosquito net hanging above. The windows have a a very fine mesh grill, so allowing air flow but not insects. I didn't see any mosquitos.Be prepared that there is only cold water in the room showers and basins - if you want a hot luxiry shower and a jacussi this is not the place for you. Breakfast was fresh French style bread with processed cheese trqingles, jam, peanut butter a featured. nd coffee or tea; sometimes an egg.Dinners cooked by Mohammed were some of the best we had in The Gambia: butter fish in great sauces and chicken domada. Hadi, the manageress, really tried her best, helping a woman who became ill after eating elsewere with natural medicines. Our group leader has been coming to The Gambia for 14 years and says this is the best place in terms of value for money and amenity that she has found. I hope to return with my partner.
