The worst bed and pillows in the WORLD!A smilingly authentic looking Chinese hotel within walking distance to town area of stalls and park which come alive come night fall - reception staff 'functional' rather than welcoming. Room, cold stone floors and a bed that is definitely the hardest and most uncomfortable we have have ever come across in the WORLD! Pillows are either hard or even harder wheat filled (tour operator asked if others available, apparently not) - used spare duvet rolled up and towels to form softer sleeping options! Breakfast was ok - a lot of Chinese choice though little western. Freshly made coffee available at breakfast time (for FREE) and I have to say the young man who made a cappuccino for me completely perfected his skill, fabulous! Would we stay here again, No - we need to sleep!

Great location but cabs cant find it.Wow what a spot, had 3 rooms at this hotel. Its on the square by the water fountains and Pagoda. The hotel itself is classic in style although about 30 years old. Rooms are Chinese, either single story or mezzanine floor. Not really views from the rooms but outside is very peasant with views to the wild goose pagoda, and 100 metres to the massive water fountains. Hotel is a good 3 1/2 possibly 4 star. Breakfast was pleasant. There are courtyards around the hotel if you which to sit outside and relax. Reception are good for China, normally one staff member on shift is semi capable of speaking English. Eating out - most restaurants are out the front door left and left again about 200 metres there is 50 places to eat and ATM machines and convenience stores. There is a bunch of bus stops out the front door to the right, 5 or 30 for the Xian Station to connect with Terracotta warriors buses or 609 for the Xian City Walk, think its 2RNB for a ticket-all pretty casual but fine. There is a KFC/Burger king if kids need a break from Asian food out the door and 200 straight in front of you at the Bottom of the water fountain to the left and right side. If I went back Id definetly stay there again. But be aware the cabbies cant find it ( 3 cabs from Xian city wall - 20/25 RNB each all got semi lost )

Lovely place! This was the best hotel we stayed in on our tour of China, from the awesome sculptures in the foyer to the comfortable rooms. There are shops close by (when you've got the confidence to cross the road!), and the staff are friendly. There was always someone on Reception who spoke good English, and the usual taxi cards were available to help you get around.

Great AmbienceThe hotel is on the plaza around the Wild Goose Pagoda, there are water fountain displays every night, music and Tai Chi in the mornings and a variety of street stalls. It is well positioned for nearby restaurants. The hotel is laid out around a set of pleasant traditional gardens and these are great for relaxing with a beer after sightseeing. Very characterful and a great ambience. The hotel definitely is aimed at Chinese not Western visitors, there are few signs in English and only one person on the front desk speaking English. We ate in the restaurant one night. Luckily the restaurant was empty so the friendly waitresses had lots of time to help us order - the menu was only in Chinese and we shared no languages. However the food was lovely (whatever it was!) Breakfast was also good (Chinese). The room was a decent size, but as someone else noted the beds are as hard as concrete.

Very Beautiful Hotel and LocationI was only able to visit one night but would have loved to stay longer. The hotel consisted of basically three square building with very large very beautiful interior courtyards. Just walking to your room was a delight. The architecture, decorating and landscaping was wonderful. Having a breakfast while sitting at a lovely table in the courtyard was sublime. As a bonus the hotel is located in a wonderful part of the city. The large park next to the hotel was beautiful, the water fountains park across the street was beautiful, the area was lively and fun. I very much enjoyed my stay at this Hotel
