    Excepcional , perfecto y 100% recomendable

Limited food but very nice, I like

Was lucky enough to get a chance to stay here for several nights for work. I suppose should COVID-19 be over and overseas travellers be allowed to come visit Malaysia, Tamu should be on their priority list. Located smacked in the middle of Kampung Bahru, it is a good alternative to the hustle and bustle of Bukit Bintang, and for travellers looking for good local Malay food (instead of the usual Chinese Malaysian food that foreigners often go for at Jalan Alor). Plenty of Malay food courts with reasonable prices within a short walking distance, and if you ever need your fancy latte or beer, Jalan Doraisamy is nearby. That famous porky Chinese Restaurant Yut Kee (if you really can't live without eating pork, and willing to queue 1 hour for it), is only a 10 minute walk from here. But if you ever feel lazy to walk, you can also choose to dine in their restaurant on the 27th floor. Food choices are a little limited by say, Shangrila standards, but most of their food were prepared from scratch, and the chefs are definitely proud of their artwork. They will almost always recommend you to try their cooking. Definitely paid off as they were so good I forgot to snap pictures of their food. Each day the cooking station offers different kind of meals so you will definitely not get bored eating on the 27th floor with a gorgeous view of Kuala Lumpur. In fact I dare say the food here is even better than some of the restaurants in Kampung Bahru, hehe. Room is reasonably clean, just that the power sockets require you to use an adapter if you are using a two pin plug. Their clean gym or their spacious swimming pool is definitely a plus point too. Service is relatively prompt - i called reception to have the corridor lights on my level turned on and it was done promptly. However the swimming pool water is a bit murkier than I would like and heater is slightly cooler than what I am used to. Small stuff when compared to all other good things this hotel has to offer. All in all, this hotel is very well worth staying. The staff seems genuinely happy working here and take pride in working with this hotel. There is even a borderline homely feel staying here. Worth the stay here.

Spacious Room & Stunning View From the Sky Lounge

TAMU Hotel & Suites is Malay owned & located in the very heart of Kuala Lumpurs Malay community. The atmosphere is certainly different where 95% of its occupants or customers are predominantly Malay. I thought it would be fun to stay & experience something different. The tourism industry had recently opened following the Covid-19 pandemic. Malaysians were all jumping on the travel bandwagon & most prefer a short staycation in the city. Thus, when my partner & I arrived, the queue to the reception was long. However, it was fast moving too. We waited not more than 30 minutes before we got our key card. Our room was on the 17th floor. It was a huge & spacious room with simple wooden furnishings. I actually liked the ID & clean lines throughout. The mattress was comfortable but the pillows were too hard & my neck had ached the following morning. Air-conditioning was good but the AC regulators casing was broken. Since we had cable TV, there were many channels to choose from for our entertainment. Unfortunately, we had trouble connecting to what was supposed to be complimentary WiFi in the room. However, a safe box, prayer mat, torchlight, iron board & iron had been thoughtfully provided. The bathroom was spacious too, equipped with hairdryer, rain shower & hand-held shower fittings. Unfortunately, the tiled floor had dirty markings. We were quite put off by it. Also, there was a buzzing sound outside our room which would not stop til we checked out. It was as though a door was not properly closed. We could not figure out which room it was as all doors were closed. Yet the buzzing sound continued & was most perturbing. At least, we had the view of the Kampung Baru mosque from our bedroom window. Later in the evening, we received a call from the reception asking whether we would like to use the pool. Apparently, the Hotel was curbing the number of guests in the pool at any one time. Each guest was given an hour to use the pool. We informed that we would be taking the 9:00 am slot the next morning. We arrived 15 minutes to 10:00 am & were told that we could only use it for 15 minutes. I was quite upset as we had arrived earlier at 9:00 am & had informed the staff that we would be using the gym prior to the pool. The staff should have informed us that we would not be able to start the 1-hour timeframe from the moment we enter the pool. The Hotel, being Muslim sensitive, divides its infinity pool into 2 sections. One for male & the other for female. I was not able to change into my bikini without being rudely stared at. My partner advised me to jump into the pool in my long pants. It was really uncomfortable even for just 15 minutes & not something that I would want to experience again. The gym was located above the swimming pool. It was equipped with the latest machines & we enjoyed our work-out. The Coffee House was very big & there was also a section where you could rent & have your own party. A staff told us to visit the TAMU Sky Lounge as the view was pretty remarkable. He was right. Al-fresco dining experience was also provided for diners. In short, we really enjoyed our stay. The staff were helpful & friendly. The view was stunning from the Sky Lounge. Our room was big & spacious. However, there were too many prying & judgemental eyes around. If you cant accept the scrutiny, dont enter this hotel.
