Inhospitable.....Where do I begin?? First, the room was filthy. Food on the floor, hand prints on glass surfaces and only 1/2 of the electrical outlets worked. As we had our children in tow, we attempted to utilize the sofa bed. When we opened it, the mattress looked more like a crime scene than a bed. The pillows were stored inside of a trunk and they were covered in dead insects. No daily housekeeping, either. Awesome. I would not travel here during the week while the pandemic is ongoing. You won't learn until check-in that the restaurant is closed. Plan on having to travel into the village for a meal since there is no onsite dining option. Oh, and be sure to bring libations with you as the pool bar seems to arbitrarily close at the behest of the teenage workers. It was supposed to be open until 7 but last call was at 5:50 p.m.. The resort will surely try and get you to spend $8-10 per person for the "lavish" public pool use. Don't bother unless you have small children. The pool temperature was maybe in the low 70's in August. And, the lifeguards serve no purpose and congregate to socialize versus being available to monitor the safety of swimmers. The resort pool was just fine and you did not have to make a further unnecessary donation to the Tamarack Club. There was a sense of apathy with the entire staff. Nobody cared. There was not a smile, a hello or even the most simple courtesy extended. I asked to speak with management to share some of my observations and they could not be bothered to even speak with guest who clearly had a miserable experience. Left after one night and would never, ever return. So much for our highly anticipated "staycation" as other travel options were limited due to the pandemic.

Overpriced Stay for Average ExperienceI want this to be a fair assessment of our stay so I will simply point out the areas that were pros and those that were cons. I hope this helps in creating change, rather than just being a space to complain. Let's start with the cons: 1. The rooms are overpriced for the level of comfort one might expect at that price point. My wife and I originally got a Standard Room for almost $200 a night and when we first walked in, it looked like a prison cell. The window is tiny and the room is awkwardly laid out. All of the TV's are outdated. Since we were on our Baby Moon, we opted to upgrade to a 1 Bedroom Suite instead which was significantly better but still not worth the money we paid. There was nothing updated about the room to warrant the price point. The coffee maker was older (no Keurig), the TV was old, and the bedside lamps were falling apart. Add to that, our fireplace didn't work; had this been winter I would have been more annoyed but since it was August, I didn't mind too much. The bathroom vanity is also very small considering how much space is in the bathroom. In addition, the bed is a Queen which is fine but still, at the price, you'd expect a King (especially compared with other resort style hotels). 2. There is no free coffee/breakfast option. Again, for how much you pay, you'd expect even some free coffee in the lobby but there is none. The only place to get coffee/breakfast is at the on-site cafe which will run you about $20 for 2 coffees and 2 breakfast sandwiches. Even the coffee at the cafe is Starbucks (which is nice) but considering there is a local coffee roasted in EVL, you'd think the resort would try and promote local coffee. 3. We went during COVID and when I called to confirm our stay, was informed by the woman at the front desk that the public pool was at full capacity and we would have had to pay for access ahead of time. This was not indicated when I made my reservation and was one of the main reasons for the stay. The woman was not helpful in providing any other solutions. We did find out, when we arrived, from another woman at the front desk, that there was a daily lottery for the public pool. We ended up getting selected but some continuity amongst the front desk staff would be helpful. Now onto the pros: 1. The Spa on site was AMAZING. Hands down (no pun intended) the best massage I have ever received. Danni was my LMT and she was incredible. Worth every penny. The Spa was also very accommodating when we had some time constraints arise last minute and had to change some of our other services. I would definitely go back. 2. The 1 Bedroom Suite does come with a full kitchen which is nice, especially for those in a group or with little kids. If we had known where we would have ended up, it would've been great to bring stuff to make breakfast. Perhaps something we will look to do if we return in the future. 3. The front desk has DVD's for "rent". It is a $5 hold on your room and once the movie is returned, the $5 is removed. A great option for little kids or just for nights where you feel like staying in. The movie selection is actually surprisingly extensive! 4. The pool was a lot of fun and there are options for both children and adults. The temperature during our stay wasn't the warmest but we still enjoyed it none-the-less. All in all, it wasn't a terrible stay. There were areas my wife and I really enjoyed but there was a lot that we were disappointed by. I think had the price not been so high for the amenities provided, we would not have had such high expectations. We will probably go back in the future but I think we will plan more accordingly. Hopefully this will help bring about some change and make our experience that much better!

Amazing Resort in Small Town AmericaThe attention to detail in our one bedroom unit was perhaps the best we have seen in our almost 40 years of timesharing. Located with a view of the ski slopes it was perfect, especially when there was fresh snow. The close location to a small town provides shopping and eating opportunity for the non -skier. With opportunities for the non -skier both at the resort and in close proximity this location is truly a four season destination...small town America at its best, with a huge bonus during the winter months.

Laughable that this is considered the luxury option in EllicotvilleNothing more than a glorified Econo Lodge. Rooms are extremely dated, fireplace is a joke, Murphy bed is like sleeping on the floor. Front desk people seem miserable and grumpy. They need to revamp from top to bottom. There is no chance I would have employees with the lack of professionalism this place has working the face of my hotel at the front desk. The John Harvard's restaurant is like an old school Applebee's although the Applebee's food is better. We travel extensively and this would be considered an economy hotel in any other place other than Holiday Valley. Gross.

Not impressedI will start out with the positives and then tell you the negatives. Beautiful grounds, comfortable bed. Negatives ... no light when we walked into room because it was broke ... didnt have any bedding for the sofa bed no soap for the shower. Front desk was not friendly when we checked in and when we checked out tried saying my son bought chips on my room. We brought our own snacks and he never left the room without us. Shame on her for not checking an ID when letting someone charge to a room! Also, I didnt like how nothing in the little store had nothing priced. Then when I asked how much an item was she really wasnt sure... poor customer service ... Also first hotel Ive been in that didnt have a pen with something to write on. Tv went out because of the weather so think twice before staying there in the winter and the power went totally off for a half hour.
