  We wont stay over again

  We stayed at the Presidential Suite on the first night. The toilet seat was broken. The shower flooded the room very quickly. Restaurant took an hour to prepare lunch, waitress was clearly untrained, very unprofessional. Doors had gaps. Special dietary requirements were not communicated in advance but the Duty manager was helpful and made a plan, thanks Lungelo. Children from the restaurant were screaming right outside our door. If this was our honeymoon I would have been miserable. Restaurant toilet was dirty. On the second night we booked at Paperbark. No hot water! Shower was very low, tall adults would not fit under. Bath tub was very rusted. Gaps in the door. We requested to move rooms since we couldnt bath. Moved to Mahogany. Toilet seat wouldnt stay up, touched your back as you sat. The park is beautiful but only for a day visit, we thoroughly enjoyed the game drive but definitely wouldnt stay again.

  Tala game reserve stay

  Wonderful trip, and extremely good food and chef, i loved every moment of the stay and felt that the staff at the leadwood manor house was very helpful and friendly and took service to another level, the chefs were a key role as i am a food person and the food was beautiful. Kind regards

  Good environment

  Good location with peaceful environment. Food was very nice. Ladies at the restaurant were very helpful in choosing the dishes. Most things were good Except that the Rooms had no TV sets. Everything meet my expectations.

  Very disappointing in every way

  We visited Tala some 3 weeks back for what was supposed to be a nice birthday outing. Called ahead 4 days early to inquire whether its open, what the prices are and if the restaurant is open to have a nice birthday lunch. We were told all is open and costs are 310 Zar per person out of which 80 ZAR was for the actual entry and the rest could be used in the restaurant. The first surprise came at the entry where we were told that it's 200 zAR for 2 people. Fine. Drove around on very badly maintained roads for a while. The best sighting was a giraffe family. While we were watching the big Tala game viewing truck overtook us and parked right in front of us, completely blocking our view. How rude ? Decided to head for the restaurant. Were told that restaurant is now somewhere else. Got there and they only offered snack type of food. No ways to have a birthday lunch there. We had a wrap and a prego roll, both with chips. The wrap was ok, prego roll and especially chips disgusting. Alerted waitress and also explained that we got totally wrong info on the phone. Didn't care, no excuse no explanation, no other food. We paid and left, never to be seen again. Had visited several times about 3 - 5 years ago and what an overall decline!

  Pssst do you want to know a secret???

  for all you Durbanites and Pietermaritzburg residents ...want a bush breakaway near you..a short drive will take you to Tala connection private game reserve. We stayed at the Leadeood manor and WOW.....the rooms are perfect all under thatch. The infinity pool overlooks the game reserve..this is special for a 2 day breakaway. Whilst you may not have the big five, its still a good gaming experience. Food is very good..for those wanting a self catering experience there are other lodges in the reserve...the team at Leadwood manor is brilliant ..and the lodge well managed. Big Bay Tours will include this in their taylormade itineraries especially for the local market.. Dream Hotels Thumbs up...
