  Good value, great location

  We chose this hotel for its reasonable price and great location close to Wanfujing. We had a twin room that was spacious with TV and fridge and reasonable sized clean bathroom. Furnishings were old but clean. The room smelt of smoke (although we had asked for a non-smoking room), but nothing an air freshener didnt sort out. Nice bright lobby area and efficient English-speaking reception staff. It also has a couple of restaurants and beauty centre although we didnt eat in but the menu's looked reasonable. We used the hotel business centre for internet access and that was cheap, although we were blocked from some sites when we identified our location as China (innocent sites e.g. KLM airline). Location is central, just off Wangfujing shopping street and within 15 mins walk to Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City. Our room at the front overlooked a main road that got busy early, but wasnt too noisy. Seemed a very popular hotel and guests were a mix of Asian and European. For the price and location would recommend and would use again. One warning: avoid the pushy drivers in the expensive taxis that park outside the hotel.   Taiwan Hotel - RIP

  Taiwan Hotel was a great place to stay in Beijing, a lot of personality, great location and affordable prices. I have been using the hotel regularly for 10 years, now its just a crater in the ground. It has been knocked down to make space for another posh, western styled hotel. Surprisingly the two old trees in front of the building are kept, I heard that they are several hundred yes old and there were some strong restrictions to protect and preserve them.

  Convenient and value for money

  We stayed 2 nights that was very convenient for our stay in Beijing . Small room but well equipped. Easy access to city centre . Taxies are reliable and hotel reception and doormen helpful to get directions . Always ask for the map from the front desk . If you have smart phone , install Chinese translator . very useful If we come to this area in Beijing we will like to stay here again
