  Good Value Hotel for Short Stays

  I stay in Taipei over the weekends quite frequently and I got one of the best value for money deals I ever had at Tai Hope hotel. The rooms are in good condition, and kept very clean. There're only two electric sockets and even the Taiwanese plug with grounding won't fit. I had to borrow a plug adapter from the lobby (100NTD deposit). They have free parking which was important to me, and the location was very convenient. The lobby staff was friendly and helpful. I had to wake up very early for a marathon and they personally called to make sure my wake-up call worked.

  Antique Hotel

  We stay here for two nights. April 4-5 2015. Great location, the room is outdated with its decor and furniture , but if you treat it as an antique hotel then it would be different than using a term " old " and" outdated " to describe it. Which i think is interesting to see these antique but clean which is very important when they are dated. good thing about this room we stayed the flooring is not carpet , which I think it helps to avoid the muddy smell. The sound proof is OK which I believe most of the hotel in Taiwan share the common problem. The linens are clean , water pressure for shower is good even on the 8th floor. The airconditioning is very powerful ,maybe the room is small ,and hard to adjust . No hangers or hook to hang your clothes in the bathroom. You have to use the chair.staff are friendly and helpful . Love the servers in the breakfast dinning area . Polite and friendly. The breakfast variety is great. And of course don't expect variety like 4 or stars hotel. But I like they provide the local popular 'food 'and if you are not a fan of Chinese food ,they also have salad ,fruits , croissants, bread , ham and chinese style hard boil eggs. If it falls in your budget and I think it's still worth the stay for a night or two. I would not stay for too long .But one big plus if you are not a smoker, I don't smell a bit of smoke or any smoking inside this building even through the air conditioning or ventilation .which is good news to me because the hotel I stayed before they always have the smoking scent somewhere and somehow got into the room through the ventilation or air conditioning ,but not this one

  Do not deceive by the photos and comments

  I was quite disappointed of this hotel. From the rooms to location. Its far from what I saw in their website. You would feel the old age of the hotel and have this creepy feeling when walking to the Corregidor. But the good thing was.. their front desk people were very helpful and accommodating. Location wise.. its too far from the train station however, bus stop is 2 minutes walk from the hotel. I wonder how this hotel were given a 4 star ratings, hmmmm....

  Spacious but old

  Is near my office, so 1 ! Is old and has foul smelly especially at the corridors. Likely because of the carpet. Is consider huge room size, another ! Does not allow extension, must check out by 12:30pm. Breakfast spread is limited, but good service from the service crew, last ! No shower area, is a high step in bath tub.

  Acceptable when other hotels are sold out...

  Like another reviewer, my company is nearby so I stayed here twice when my usual hotels were sold out. This hotel has several very nice staff member. They are professional, friendly and helpful, but it doesn't overcome how old and lacking the hotel is. 1) Smelly hallway and a generally unclean feeling. Guest room has peeling paint/wallpaper and signs of water damage. 2) No usable power outlets in the room! This goes to show how dated this hotel is. It sells itself as a business hotel but there is literally no place to plug in your computer or phone charger. 3) Non-working ACs. The ACs are very old and loud, to a point of disturbing our sleep, yet they can't seem to cool the room even in middle of December. 4) No or broken laundry facility. When asked, the staff will send you to public laundromats, which are across a busy major corridor and quite expensive. All in all, the rating should really be 2 stars but the staff edge it into a 3.
