Not terrible, but not what we expected at allIll start by saying that Terry, her husband, and cooper (the doggo) are all very nice and eager to accommodate. And had we checked TripAdvisor first and seen that this was a 2-2.5 star spot, perhaps we would feel differently. With that said, as a group we felt obligated to share a few things. First, dont be misled by the words cottage and inn in the title - this is most certainly a motel on the side of one of the busiest roads in Tahoe. And it is on the side of the road: we were disappointed to learn that our room was a stones throw from the road - with windows facing it. While they did a great job with noise management, it still wasnt the cottage we had in mind, and we felt the photos were a bit misleading. All that is our mistake: we shouldve checked a map and reviewed TripAdvisor before booking. However: When we arrived we were disappointed to find a few more things that really soured our experience: 1) a large crack under the door near the thermometer kept the heat going on and off all night 2) the beds were awful. The springs have given out in all of them, leading to awful back pain for everyone in the house. On the second night, one person even switched to the sofa bed - which was just as bad. 3) the couches themselves also were uncomfortable and caused back pain 4) the fireplace in the unit doesnt work, which we werent informed of or compensated for Other than that, it was satisfactory. The kitchen was well appointed, staff was friendly, and grill outside worked great. Had we not been expecting something very different, and had the beds not caused tremendous back pain, perhaps we would feel differently. In fact, those two things being different, Id even recommend a budget conscious traveler to stay here. Hope this helps

Fun place with great hosts and perfect locationMy wife, my daughter and her friend and I stayed in the Bear at the Tahoe Cottage Inn from 7/21/18 to 8/4/18. What a hoot! It was great. Close to everything. I had a bike and rode it on bike paths from TCI to paths along the Lake and up on Angora Ridge. The property is huge with super tall pine trees and a sitting area outside around a fire pit- my favorite place to sit and write in my journal, talk to Kurt and Teri (the owners), or pet Cooper their Chocolate Lab. The Bear is two big rooms one with a Queen and one with a sofa bed. Microwave, pretty big refrigerator and two TVs which we never watched-too much to do. I kept my bike in the Bears little foyer, which looked like perfect ski storage. The place has been totally updated with nice fixtures and tile in the bathroom which is well lit. My daughter and her friend liked the cute plush bear in their room. Kurt and Teri kept lots of the old time charm when they updated like sliding windows to let in cool mountain air at night. Great places to eat and a big super market with a deli within walking distance. There are picnic tables under the pines at TCI, which was our favorite place to eat take-out. Tahoe Pizza Company is just a few blocks away with a great salad bar. It is in a big log cabin We really loved it here and two weeks went by too fast. Thanks so much Kurt and Teri! And Cooper!

A breath of fresh airMy family stayed here in July and we had the greatest time. Super clean. Super well-maintained. Beautiful pines, beautiful woodwork - felt like a cabin in the woods but with all the amenities! Highly recommend, the owners Teri and Kurt are so accommodating and Cooper, the dog stole my heart. Highly recommend!

One Stay and You Will Be Glad You Did!I came from out of town to visit family in California. My brother was adamant about going to Lake Tahoe for a couple of days. I booked this particular hotel based on price, ratings, and comments left by previous guests. I am so glad we stayed here. I love this place! The hotel is easy to get to. It is close to all the things we wanted to see beaches, campgrounds, nightlife, etc. but on the quieter side of town. I have always wanted to stay in a replica cabin and when I walked into this one, I was pleased. The room was newly renovated and clean with charming decor. Outside, they created an outdoor living space with a grill and chairs around a fire pit. The owners are amazing. They were so friendly and accommodating. They made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The second day, we asked them for recommendations on places to go and this became the best part of our trip. Because of them, we got to see waterfalls, found a quieter public beach, and visited the Wild West in Virginia City. At night, we came back to barbecue and sit around the pit under the tall pines, sharing stories and playing with their dog Cooper. My brother is a regular in Lake Tahoe and he said this was his favorite time going there. I had a fabulous time at the Tahoe Cottage Inn. I cant wait to go again!

Loved it so much, came back again this year!Terri and Kurt, the owners, and the wonderful, friendly lab, Cooper, make this place special. This is our second year staying here. I love the feeling of a cabin in the woods, but just a short walk to everything you need - restaurants, groceries, outdoor/sporting goods stores, massage, pharmacies, etc. and a short car ride (less than 10 minutes) to the best hiking and campgrounds around the lake. It's also thankfully NOT in the middle of the South Lake Tahoe traffic jams. The accommodations are fresh, clean and decorated with love by Terri. I am crazy about all of the knotty pine paneling - cozy! Thanks, Terri and Kurt, for another wonderful visit to SLT!
