  Our least favorite hotel

  After booking, we did receive an email, as promised, 2 days before arrival, with our assigned room number as well as a code for the door on the long-side of the building. Upon entry, the room keys are hanging on the wall. We stayed here for one night on Sept 12, 2019, our first night in Iceland. There was a shared kitchen upstairs, and there is a Bonus grocery store just a block or so away. Our room was on the ground level. The room was quite expensive for what we got; on par with a 1 or 2 star hotel in the US. There was no floor barrier for the shower. My husband inadvertently flooded the whole bathroom floor while showering. There was a sulfur odor to the hot water, but it was not overwhelming. I was very glad I brought my own travel bed pillow. There were 3 non-English channels on the TV. All the other hotels on our trip had at least one English news channel. Our room rate included breakfast - cereal, breads, lunch meat & cheese, hard-cooked eggs, and a bit of fruit. This was our least favorite hotel on our 11 days of driving around Iceland.

  Budget Hotel

  Clean and quiet place 5km away from Reykjavík. On a main bus route but be aware no buses in a Saturday until 7.50 in the morning. If you are hiring a car and want an easy base to start from then this is the right place. No frills but clean and warm with a continental breakfast included. A kitchen area is open to everyone so you can cook your own meals.

  Bed smell in the bedroom

  We stayed for 2 nights. The bedroom had a terrible smell and, on the next day, when we asked the staff if she could do something, she said we have to wait until 9am for the boss arrive to see if it is possible to do something. It was not a nice experience. The breakfast was ok.

  Don't expect a refund if you have to cancel.

  I had to cancel my reservation, booked through Hotels.com because my airline Easyjet cancelled the flight to Iceland. T10 refused, offered nothing to compensate, like a credit note for a future stay. Though I do intend to visit Iceland in the future I definitely won't be staying at this hotel. They basically just keep your money and say tough luck. That is what you are to them as a customer or guest, just a cash machine. If you are going to book this hotel leave it to the last minute in case you have to cancel your trip because you won't get any refund. I am pretty sure they can rent the room out in August so refunding me or offering a credit note would have cost them nothing.

  Budget, no frills, clean hostel

  We booked a room for 4 adults and the room was big, clean and comes with a private shower. Self check-in, as the email with my room number was sent to me few days prior to check in. Our room was at level 2 thus we had to carry the heavy luggages up.. Location was great, near to Reykjavík downtown and the free parking space was right at the entrance of the Hostel. The community kitchen was sufficient though we did not used it. One of the rare Hostel that provided breakfast even though we paid very reasonable amount for the room. All in all I was happy with my stay and recommended to all for the value for money.
