Overpriced - NOT 3 star! Rock hard beds

Run by nice people, with friendly and helpful staff. However, do not be fooled by claims this is a 3 star hotel, nor by the rather grand exterior, complete with flags and (very welcoming) uniformed doorman.  This is really an overpriced budget-standard hotel with delusions of grandeur! We booked by email, having seen the picture on their website of a very nice room.  The room we were offered was very poor, so we were shown 2 more.  None was anything like the website picture, which we pointed out to the manager.  After haggling, we took the 3rd room, which was large and with a nice view of the stupa.  Furniture consisted of 2 single beds pushed together, with one large quilt which barely covered us both, a wardrobe with only one hanger, a dressing table with light, 2 chairs and one bedside table, TV.  The floor was carpeted.  The phone was disconnected, having 6 inches of wire sticking out of it leading nowhere!  There was not a single hook in the bedroom or bathroom. The bathroom had a slightly temperamental geyser producing hot water through a length of hose, with no shower head, which sent water down the wall.  Hence we had to to tie it to a tap, aim it into a bucket, and wash with a  jug.  (Incidentally, i sneaked a look in another room and it had the same dodgy shower arrangement, so maybe all the rooms are like this!) The toilet cistern leaked constantly so we had to turn it off at the pipe every time it filled. If you are used to slightly idiosyncratic budget hotels, the room was perfectly adequate, except for the fact that the bed was so hard it gave us both back ache and I had to buy a piece of foam so I could sleep! No access to roof and no garden so nowhere to hang laundry. Terrible wifi We ordered a thukpa (too much salt, too much chilli) and a hot honey, ginger & lemon (they forgot the ginger) from room service.  This arrived spilled, and with no napkins. Very good location near to the bottom of the stupa and with many restaurants nearby (the best ones back down swayambu marg).  The only downside was the music which starts up opposite the hotel at 6am (the back rooms may be quieter). In conclusion, if you're not expecting anything special, you can sleep on a hard bed and you haggle over the price, the hotel is OK.  But no way is it worth their standard price of 1500 compared to other hotels in Thamel and Boudhanath.

Room service not so quick and sometimes they dont respond quickly but in other things its a very nice hotel. Pleasant stay and good food.

    Not amazing but good enough.

The hotel look a bit 'old' or outdated. Can't be sure of the cleanliness but the room was ok. The food was good (rice and vegetables) and delivered in the room. Just 2min walk from the Swayambunath temple.
