    Tea and hospitality

The welcome at Sunset House was friendly and warm, coming with the offer of a glass of wine or a cup of tea, which was served on the little terrace. This gesture meant a lot after a long drive. More places should do it as the goodwill it generates cannot be overestimated. We had asked for a room with 2 beds, and we were given 2 rooms with one bed each. We also had a little sitting room with a television and large bathroom, so it was like our own suite! Unfortunately it was unseasonable chilly, so we couldn't take advantage of the swimming pool and garden. The B&B is right in the centre of the village, so it was nice to go for a walk and pop out for supper without the car, having driven all day to get there. We opted for a full English breakfast rather than croissants, but as it turned out we could have had both. An impressive array of pastries, bread, fruit, yogurts and jams were on the table, which we shared with 2 other guests.

Loved my Stay at Sunset House...Charming Hosts!

I stayed at Sunset House a few months ago. We were moving House and I needed a base while my husband and son got the house together and unpacked our belongings. I have a slight disability so was unable to do much to help so it was important I found a place where I could come and go as I pleased. I am unable to drive so I needed to be near shops. I contacted the Lovely Liz before I arrived in France and she said she was going to put me in the Suite. I made an excellent choice of Bed and Breakfast. The owners are so welcoming! Nothing is too much trouble. The suite gives you a lot of space and I would recommend it if you are moving house as there is a lot of space to put things. I never travel light and had an awful lot of stuff with me. We were moving back to our home in France from another Country so it was a very stressful time. I can honestly say I had the best nights sleep ever ! The bed was so comfortable. I really enjoyed my few days rest ! The Breakfast was lovely. So much choice. It is all laid out ready for you to help yourself. Liz explains how everything works when you arrive. I much preferred this system as being on my own and not a fluent French speaker I liked being able to have breakfast on my own. The Bed and breakfast is in a very pretty little area down near the river. I got my exercise each day walking up the hill to the village. Its a nice walk as long as you can manage the hill. If you want a gentler walk you can turn left at the bridge and it will be a much easier walk. There is a coffee shop on route and I used to stop for a coffee en route to the supermarket. Magnac Laval is a nice place with several restaurants and a lovely Salon de The which we now visit regularly. I enjoyed my walk each day but Liz did kindly offer to drive me to the Supermarket while she did her shopping and as I was moving back to the area invited me out to Lunch with the family. The Hussein family are a very genuine family and I hope we will remain friends for years to come. Liz and Ash and family work extremely hard to keep everything running smoothly. If you choose Sunset House I can assure you, you wont be disappointed. I didn't have an evening meal at Sunset House as I was meeting up with family but I think Liz will cook a meal on request. There is a lovely big swimming pool at the back of the House for the Summer months but it was too cold for swimming in April. The biggest bonus for me was that I could watch English TV. This made such a huge difference for me as i was there alone for most of the time. I hadn't seen English soaps for so long...Nice to relax with a glass of wine ! I think Sunset House suits everyone from couples to families and people like me travelling alone for a few days. Perfect place if you are house hunting as Liz and family are so knowledgable and helpful.

    Very comfortable stopover

On arrival front door was locked, place looked deserted and not at all like the hotel we were expecting. However looks are deceptive. As soon as the door was opened the welcome could not have been warmer. Liz, the owner, showed us to a suite of rooms. Small lounge, bathroom and bedroom. A small fridge with complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks hit the spot. The kettle & assorted teas also did the job. The TV with English channels was also a break from the norm. Liz was attentive enough to notice the wood on the roof (a building project for our Spanish villa) and suggested we park in the private car-park behind the house rather than the public car-park across the road. Beware of the steep entrance if you do the same though, we almost took the bottom out of our heavily laden car getting up there. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed a fabulous night's sleep. The road outside was very quiet. Breakfast was excellent although I would have preferred croissants rather than pain-au-chocolat. You certainly won't want for anything else. We didn't see our hosts at all on the morning of departure which was a shame as we would have loved to thank them for a lovely stopover.

    Wonderful experience

Couldnt believe our hosts were north east girls.....what a welcome. Nothing to much trouble we were handed over the whole establishment to use as our own.....we enjoyed it so much we decided to re book for another stay over on way back. Wish both the hosts every good wish for the future they deserve to make every success of their business.
