Great location but it is the windy part of the island and the winds howled day and night

We stayed here a week in a one bedroom place. It is a great location in that it's a quick drive to Kihei or Wailea but also easier to access driving like the Road to Hana and Haleakala crater. Plus it's a quick drive to Costco and the airport. The resort is nice. Our condo unit 102 was just fine. Not huge but a king bed and well equipped kitchen to cook in. There are BBQ's on the lawn near beach and they are well used there. I think many people cook here and it's close to Costco to get food. The pool is nice and heated and has hot tub. You are directly on a nice beach that is great for long walks and is not crowded. Also close to the Maui canoe club if you want to try it. the only negative and it's a big negative is the wind here. That is the wind tunnel on the island. Now Maui is windy a lot and often the wind picks up in the afternoons but we have never experienced the wind blowing(actually howling) day and night. You could hear it all night. It was blowing the chairs over at the pool. That made it hard to enjoy the pool area some days. One day we just got in the car and went south to Wailea and it was barely windy there. But after this we spent some time in Kaanapali and it was windy there as well but worse at Sugar beach. We liked the price of the place though. Overall would stay again as it's good as a base for activities but if wind blows try to go south to the beachs there. P.S. great place to see whales off the beach!

    Sugar Beach Resort....slice of HEAVEN!

So OBVIOUSLY I could not pass up any opportunity to visit Maui..... So when one of my closest friends announced she was getting married February 2020, The travel planning began! After thumbing through multiple webpages online trying to find a resort that could contain myself, my senior mother, my two teenage daughters and my 10-year-old son.... I bit the bullet and took the advice of the soon to be bride and booked a room directly with Sugar Beach Resort. No doubt one of the best decisions I have made in my past 39 years! We ended up getting a family suite on the fifth floor. Good to know there are six floors at the Sugar Beach resort the very top floor is considered PH- Pent house. From the minute we checked in at the managers office we were all extremely surprised and super stoked to go check out the beach. Needless to say, Kihei, Maui has some of the most gorgeous beaches I have ever seen!! Situated on which seems like forever- the white sand beachfront Sugar Beach resort did not disappoint any of us. From the barbecues, to the beach shower to rinse your Sandy feet, to the average size swimming pool and hot tub, mind you which also has locking gates which keeps any riffraffs or non-owner or non-guests out, Sugar Beach Resort was top notch. Our view from our ocean front balcony was absolutely stunning and amazing. My kids enjoyed themselves immensely and I could hardly keep them off the sand, out of the ocean or away from a poolside lounger. Now a huge disclaimer Sugar Beach resort does not have the glittery, loud, disco flashing night life. So much better in my opinion, to have the relaxing sounds of the waves from your balcony and from the gorgeous beach just steps outside your condo, regardless of which floor or which unit you end up reserving. If you have ever read any of my other reviews you would know that I am extremely wound up no joke, and here at Sugar Beach resort I was not finding myself looking for scratches dents sounds smells stains. I was enjoying the outdoors, the smell, the sound, and the traditional authentic Hawaiian Decour throughout the resort. I did not hear neighbors, didnt see any offensive behavior, no loud parties....seriously an all around experience that I cannot wait to get back and do again Maybe this time with my husband!!! Thank you SOOOOO much Sugar Beach! We all had a BLAST! Ohhhhh! Another disclaimer :-) Just food for thought my 10-year-old son is high functioning autistic....And this was truly one vacation that goes down in the books for comfort, sensory, excitement, and daily races via one of the two elevators or the stairs!!!!

    Extremely secure and excellent views!!

The first thing you must know is that these are vacation condos being sublet to you from its owner. this means they are all decorated or finished differently. other than that there is a great management team the is ready to assist you in any information you may require. That being said, however, it is an amazing condominium! there are great amenities including a sauna and hot tub by the common pool, Elevators, and free parking! Our unit wast top of the line and had plenty of kitchenware and gadgets to cook and serve. Sheets and linens were very clean and comfy.

Perfect base camp to explore Maui right on relaxing Sugar Beach!

George and Barbara's unit 226 at Sugar Beach Resorts was the perfect headquarters for our two-week trip to Maui in January 2021! We are frequent travelers who like to explore new destinations and were celebrating a milestone anniversary on our first visit to Maui. Here are just a few of the things we loved about SBR 226: - Location - This north Kihei location was convenient to the airport, big shops and dining in Kahalui to the resort areas in Wailea and Kaanapali as well as to lots of great beaches off the beaten path. We rented a car and explored lots of the island, but kept coming back to Sugar Beach to snorkel and relax. We enjoyed shopping and dining both nearby in Kihei as well as 20 mins away in Lahaina. Covid had lots of the shops and the aquarium at the harbor in Maalaea closed during our visit, but that would also be a great spot in "normal" times. - Convenience - George and Barbara thoughtfully provided a well-stocked kitchen, beach supplies and were super friendly and helpful. We had everything we needed and could have packed even less than we did. - Comfort - The unit was comfortable and had just about the right amount of space for two people. The pool, hot tub, BBQ grills and lounge chairs of the resort were close and added to our enjoyment. - Relaxation - Sugar Beach is a less touristy spot and its long stretches of sand are great for quiet walks and amazing Maui sunsets. We snorkeled with turtles frequently in the mornings and watched the whales from both the lenai and the resorts well-manicured lawn. We enjoyed walking to Ululani's Shave Ice and the Sugar Beach Bake a few minutes away along the beach for a tasty breakfast or afternoon snack. We can see why most of the owners and returning guests return to Sugar Beach Resort year after year. Thanks George and Barbara for sharing your place and making our anniversary trip such a memorable one!

    Cannot wait to go back!

My girlfriend and I flew to Maui on Boxing Day and spent two weeks in Hawaii which was wonderful. We took the opinion that wee would use the condo at Sugar Beach to have as a base and do some island hopping. Once week arrived we decided that we would spend the lion share of our trip there in Kihei and didn't regret that decision. The staff we're excellent on check in/ out and the condo was immaculate. This particular condo was the last but one on the other end of the and as a result offered incredible views in the morning and the view of the sunset is immense. Whilst a long journey to get to Maui from the UK, the island and condo are well worth it!
